For those of you having trouble printing the templates (like I did), I finally figured out that in adobe acrobat (even the free version), I took the downloaded templates and hit print, clicked on Poster and changed Tile Scale to 103%. It will print on multiple pages but it will also get you extremely close to the correct sizes of the wood templates. I haven't yet started this project, but I'm looking forward to it soon. Thanks so much to Brad for posting such an amazing build!!

The patterns are available in the link to the magazine article provided in the description. The problem I had was not knowing how to print it full size.size. What I did was to take a pdf snapshot of each part, scale it using Visio (there are enough dimensions given in the article to do this) print it on separate 8 1/2 x 11 sheets, and tape it together. The article and video by Brad is really excellent !!! There is only one minor change I would make. If you look at an original Z chair, the area where the webbing/ clips are installed is recessed. This is done so you can't see the webbing/clips when the chair is viewed from the side with the cushion on.

Do you have a way I can get those full scale PDFs for each template from you? I'm not sure how to go about doing it myself.

I worked for a blue print company for many years. You can easily have full-size plans printed at a local blue print company. Kinkos also has large-format printers, although the costs are usually much higher to have plans printed. In most cases, you can email the pdf and pick-up the printed plans the same day.

Coloca a opção de imprimir pôster, e deixa a escala em 100%. Um impressora comum irá da conta do trabalho.

Thanks for the plans and video! I’m almost finished with the build. This was the most challenging project I’ve tried so far so I had a lot of fun and learned a lot of new techniques along the way. I’m sitting in it now with my dog on my lap. It’s quite comfortable as well. One of the first things my spouse said when they saw it was “can you make one more?”

I had trouble getting the dowels to align correctly for the main side piece joints so I swapped to a floating mortise joint instead. I also made the seat from solid bars which was easier and didn’t add much weight.

@@borasong852 were you able to print the templates ok? did you need to do anything to print them full size?

Nice design. Just wondering about the back leg that slims down quite a bit near the floor. With that angle and weight on the chair, has ther been any failure?

How many board feet did you use. Hoping to ballpark the cost of the project please.
