It's amazing how there are tutorials on KZbin of practically any of the great designs of the Mid-Century Modern style, including the best sellers. The truth is that wonderful things can be done just by having the right materials at home and the necessary knowledge. I have an LC4 Lounge Chaise that I bought at Manhattan Home Design and I really can't imagine what it would be like to try to make it at home. Thank you for sharing this. :)

I would love to build this, along with some of your other projects, but simply don't have the time or tools right now. This seems like the perfect project to a flat pack, RTA, project. I know it goes against your "grain" but if you built the leg/arms, base and back they could be shipped for a lot less money. I would certainly be interested.

This was the first video of yours I had ever seen on your original channel. It was also the first time I had ever seen a domino and I was like “hmmmm what is this sorcery.....”. And just like that, you cost me 1500 bucks. But it is a game changer and paid for itself with my first two mid century danish reproduction benches. Oh also the first time I had seen templates and flush trim bits (yes I was brand new). Another game changer. Thanks guys. You really make this accessible for the rest of us.

Nice use for the track saw! I can honestly say that never occurred to me. Those chairs are such a classic design. As I write this comment, I am looking at a pair of chairs my parents bought in the fifties, that are very similar. Love your take on them!

It is a nice design but i don’t know if you have ever sat in a 1930s art deco over stuffed chair but it is heavenly. I have one and it is the most comfortable chair I have even sat in.

When connecting the seat to the legs, did you choose to put the dominoes parallel to the legs instead of the seat so as not to cross so much of the grain structure in the legs? In the middle of a chair build and can’t decide how to mate the 2

My third comment, sorry! This might be the one that actually makes me pull the trigger and but a set of plans. I’ve always admired this chair and it’s pretty approachable and achievable looking, the biggest stopping point is the upholstery aspect of it.

Now that I'm about 75% done building my first Glenn Chair, and reviewing the build in my mind (right now I'm sitting and waiting for the miter joint on the seat panels to dry), I think I've come up with a good 'one man shop' order of operations, that would potentially keep you moving: 1. Build seat panels 2. Build seat sides 3. Trim, miter and join seat panels 4. Make leg assemblies 5. Join Seat and seat sides 6. Join full seat assembly to legs 7. All the finishing That's how I'll try building my next one.

Shaun a few quick questions before I place my order. From seat to back how much greater than 90° is the angle? Basically angle of recline. Also, I saw that chair width is 27” which is nice size, but I thought that would be the outer dimension, so what is the inner dimension, ie cushion width? Last question any plans for a table to pair with this?
@GrantOakes Жыл бұрын
2:45 mark, SERIOUSLY consider an "L" fence for those cuts. It's WAY faster and extremely accurate.

idea to avoid needing to free-hand the domino cuts at ~12:30: tape the side template together, cut the domino holes all the way thru the template, align template to seat assembly (and then side assemblies) and trace holes with a pencil.

Great Channel. Thank you for what you bring to the wood working community. My wife purchased the mid century chair plans with templates. Very well done. Methodical detailed coaching and tips to be successful. Recommend to any wood worker. Some thoughts for enhancing .... 1 Review in the plans detail for each and every edge round over. I the general public you tube video there is some detail, but between the two sources there is still some guessing 2 Maybe something for separate video , but the total push stroke on the domino needs to be complete. even pushing the take a second at the full stroke position 3. Placement on the clamping aids needs to be in the middle of the width of the boards to reduce or eliminate buckling and bottom joint separation. Just some thoughts. Submitted respectfully
