I was always thinking of turning that little spot in my patio into a pond of some sort. Thanks for the diy, you made it look easy enough but I know I'm going to have trouble around the framing. I've been contemplating this project for a year now, might just have to get up and do it

Best way to combat algae is PLANTS. especially when you have a high waste fish like carp (goldfish). Get some beneficial bacteria from the pet store and add that. That will help create a proper nitrogen cycle.

Looks amazing! Excellent work! Just a suggestion you might consider... if it gets a lot of sun, algae may continuously be a problem. (It’s inevitable) Possible solutions... Ditch the fish, make it a water feature and dose with chlorine ..... or If you keep the fish, maybe consider some algae eating fish (will definitely need a filter and still may not resolve if you don’t have enough) I’ve also heard of others control algae with a UV steriliser. Hope it all works out!
