How to build a pondless waterfall - step by step. By: Jaak Harju
Today's vlog is probably more of a tutorial on how to build a small backyard pondless waterfall (or disappearing waterfall). I hook up with my crew at our indoor water feature training facility and they construct a 6' long x 2' high pondless waterfall.
You'll get to see, step by step, our whole process for installing a small pondless waterfall on top of an aquabasin. We end up with 4 separate cascades and it's pumping about 2000 gallons per hour with an Aquascape - Aquasurge 2000 pump.
I even wind up flying my DJI Phantom 4 drone inside the garage! That was crazy stuff!

Love what you do man love your training center I wish you'd get a little more specific about the GPM pumps use internal pumps and external pumps why you would use filtration system when you need a filtration system when you don't need one I wish you would get a little bit more specific for guys that are doing this and kinda look towards you because like I said you're doing beautiful work and I'm out here trying to mimic it here on the West coast I just want a few more specifics but totally appreciate you guys!!

Jaak, great video. I am 41 years old and have a long term goal of being a C.A.C in Central Maine. I know you were a heavy machine operator previous to your startup of Atlantis. What were some of the first steps you took once you knew in your heart that a career change was needed. Love the content. Like watching Ed, I felt like I was a part of the training exercise.

Wow, wonderful, helpful video! Thank you so much! I want to have a pondless waterfall, but have no knowledge/experience in doing it--your video is a huge help! I have a couple of questions though (I hope you haven't already answered them). When you attached the liner to the reservoir, I saw a rectangle patch with a shiny surface all around the patch (at 9:09 on the video)...what was that? I THINK I know, but I'd rather make sure than to make a false step. Later in the video at the opposite end of the reservoir I saw a rectangular hole in the liner, so I'm thinking that you cut a hole out of what is excess liner and then used that material to reinforce the area around the hole you cut for the plumbing to the reservoir? If that's correct, then what did you use to "glue" it to the liner? Thank you so much for taking the time to create this video for us rookies!

We use a zip level... hate line levels!

Instead of a laser device, I am going to use a transparent water tube filled with water. One end of the tube can be put in place on the reference point and the other end on the target point. I have see guys using this method on brick works and used it to set garage MS posts. I hope it will do on my water fall.

Great Video! Couple Quick questions. Will the water clear up after while of running the pump. Or is there a filter product I should be looking for.... I'm building a 2' high waterfall with about 8-10' of length to the basin and I want to create a shallow pounding feature at the basin similar to the first ponding at the start of your waterfall. Would I set the basin a couple inches deeper if I use this product you used.

Yes, it clears in a few days. Setting the reservoir lower will give you the opportunity to achieve that effect 👍

Question - you did not mention it, but it appeared that you doubled up the EDPM liner at the bulkhead connection point. do you normally wo that at a bulkhead fittintg? Why?

That was seam tape that you saw. We put that on first before any penetrations through the liner

Do you just plug the pump to a customer's outside outlet and how do you hide it if the pondless waterfall is in the middle of the lawn and you have to run it to the house?
