Hey Derek just wanted to share I found your video about 18 months ago on my other KZbin account and built this as a "just in case" power station. Your tutorial was so great I had 0 experience and was able to build it. I had never even stripped wire before when I built it. I built a second version and used a slightly larger case and a higher power battery with two 3 prong outlets. Your tutorial gave me the confidence to build the emergency power supply station.Our power went out thanksgiving day, no one would come out to help. Our heat was out for 4 days. I was able to run an electric blanket, mini heater and my kettle off the larger battery to keep my two little boys and our cat warm. The tutorial I originally did with this video kept my phone charged up! This literally saved our lives. Thanks so much for your tutorial. Happy holidays to you and your family

Thank You So Much For This VERY Informative Video!! I'm planning to build one this week for my Trunk-or-Treat. However, it's "Stupid Question" time ... How do I recharge the battery in the box after using it for a couple of hours? Can I simply connect it to my running car battery for a period of time - like jump staring a car? I have two Trunk-or-Treat events, one day after another, Each event will likely tax my portable battery. Thank you
@TBassFactory Жыл бұрын
Yes you sure can and that’s not a stupid question. If you have another battery you can hook it up to it and have more capacity. Kind of like if you hooked up the car but it wasn’t running. I hope It works out bud!

Good Job! I have done one. Came in handy in Canyon Lake last Feb when power was out and it was 8 degrees. I put an inverter in the 12v plug and had lights and phone recharging capabilities. I use it tent camping as well.
@TBassFactory2 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, that’s smart thinking. Charging a phone could probably charge forever but with led lights I’m sure you could get some good time out of it.

@@TBassFactory Mine was a flea market find. Plan on bringing it camping as that thing can power a fairly large crt tv through an inverter, and for decently long too. It takes a few tries to turn the tv on though. The degaussing coil sinks TONS of current when cold and my inverter tops out at 100w.

Awesome little set up man! $20 for the accessories but how much for the actual battery? How do you recharge the battery after a trip?
@TBassFactory11 ай бұрын
The battery can vary depending which type you go with and capacity. A lead acid is usually $75 and up for a descent one. I recharge with a 12 volt charger.

hey! do you think you can recycle some unused batteries from other devices like drills with an adapter? Please let me know if you have some other alternatives
@TBassFactory10 ай бұрын
I think you sure could but if it’s a higher voltage you would have to get a 12v inverter if for example it was a 40 volt battery or 24. You just gotta be careful because they could go down a lot because of the internal bms getting hot then it has to cool down
@AchaJeeVlogs6 ай бұрын
Man this is a perfect diy battery for camping. I've been looking for cheap alternatives to power stations for a while. I'm gonna go with this build. My only question (as a layman aka dumbass) is how do you charge the marine battery? Does it have a dc input port that plugs into the wall?

I have a 1/4hp pitching machine that has no batter pack. I need something to power it when I do not have access to a power outlet. Would something like this work for a 1/4hp motor?
@TBassFactory Жыл бұрын
Those motors can take a lot of Amperage to run and if it does the draw on the battery wouldn’t let it run too long but I could be wrong until you try it. If you could have a car running and tie jumper cables with 2 batteries and then run an extension cord out I think you could make the run time longer.

@MunkyWrench7 ай бұрын
car battery will work but it is not designed to discharge power from 100% to 0.. it is only designed to go from 100% to about 80 percent .. anything more than that damages a standard bAttery.. A deep cycle battery can discharge more like 50% before damage and can be recharged for more cycles.. so in the very short term u can use a car battery.. in the slightly longer term you can use a marine battery.. for long term you should use a Lithium battery and you can get them for as little as $25 .. This is a great video to get you started and I hope you make one of these.. its a great tool to have
