If you watch the video, you'll figure it out. A "fanboat" is a boat capable of maneuvering in any direction; over & thru vegetation. It's NOT a "Airboat" that is only 1 direction capable & able to leave water & run the hill. The video completely breaks down the definition between the 2 if you'd take the time to pay attention.

Can you do a video of the frame ? Specifically how the engine is mounted, the heights and lengths of the metal frame. Maybe even some upgrades you would do. I'm researching and going to build one soon. It's the only way I can afford one. I have a mig, and know how to use one. I do have the metal and the engine. Every project I start, has a budget of 0.00. Then I work my ass off from there. Thanks jc

I am building a push pull system for a fan that I bought and was wondering where you find a push pull cable with 8" of throw. I have searched everywhere online and the max I can find is like 3"

you're looking at the wrong kind of cable. a teleflex 3300 is 10x24 threads & 3" throw. that is only strong enough for throttle & transmission shifts. the teleflex 4400 is 1/4x20 with a 4" throw and is generally only used for jet boat reverse buckets. Once again it is not designed for strength. What you are looking for is a 3/8" push/pull control cable with bulkhead ends on both ends that you can put heim joints on. Most 3/8 control cables are 6" throw but you can special order 8" throw cables. i have used Mako hose & rubber out of west palm beach florida a few times [phone] . it can not be ordered on their site you have to call & request a custom build. it will be about a $400 cable but they usually have everything to build them in stock.

Don’t forget, if you are building a globe style fan make sure you have clearance for the outboard to be able to trim all the way up.

Have wanted to do a fan setup for my boat as I cant get to the areas I need to with a trolling motor. I run a 1860 roughneck. It is not a flat slick bottom like an airboat is. Is it even worth the money, time, effort to put a fan on a boat like mine? It is not a flat bottom, has a very slight V. I should add that I love this boat as is pulls multi duty as a fishing boat, duckboat and my bowfishibg rig so selling it isn't an option. I just don't want to waste time money putting a fan on it if it won't go into the thicker stuff.

ModV isn't ideal. It will be fine in weeds and such but you'll obviously hit bottom harder and more often. Roughnecks are .100 hulls and will recieve a lot of damage from a fan.

Ok, so, direct drive, 1 7/16 shaft is recommended. So am I correct in assuming that a 1 1/8 shaft or even a 1" shaft is ok for a reduction drive?

Belt drive takes all the stress off of the shaft by reducing the rotating mass. Yes

I live in north Dakota. There is always wind. I would also like to get on the river by me. I've heard fans dont do well in these conditions. I'm debating going with a push pull straight to a mud motor or a fan. I would like to know what you have to say about it.

That Platte river looks like its gonna have to have either a airboat or at least one mud motor. Fans become very difficult to maneuver in wind and current.

I have a 6 blade 35”prop with reduction gear and a rotax 503 50hp Hovercraft. But rotax is very loud. How well do you think it will perform with a Predator. Love this vid btw :)

i dont know anything about hovercrafts but 50hp is enough to turn a 65" prop. all air is loud. blade tip speed will make your ears bleed. especially when you put inside a solid cowl. if you're intersted in Predators checkout these sites.. www.performance670.com/ lonestarhovercraft.com/
