I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.

I painted the trim first and then painted the shed before adding the trim. Minor touch up afterwards but zero cutting in. Saves a lot of time.

great shed building videos! I would however recommend against ever painting any exterior walls with a roller. the coat will be too thin & the paint will eventually flake away under the elements in a few short years. exterior surfaces should always be brushed on, leaving a thicker coat behind that will last much longer. takes a little longer, but the extra time is worth it.

If you haven't already the color he used is the standard dark red that most "Barn and Fence" paints come straight out of the can. For a more traditional red barn the Sherwin Williams color "Real Red" is the shade closest to the white trimmed - red barns you see in calenders and whatnot.

If you are using a water-based paint or product like caulk on nailheads or any bare metal it needs to be sealed or the water in the product with result in rust and blow out any filler or paint. The easiest way to seal bare metal is with either patent knotting or any oil-based paint. All bare wood and cut ends especially endgrains ought to receive copious preservative prior to painting. First coat of primer ought to be thinned slightly in order to soak in. Brush is better than roller on first coats as it lifts and gets under any residual dust. Solvent based paints trump water-based all day long. Don't paint in hot direct sun. If you can get it, acrylic glazing putty is better than caulk (Unibond make one). Use a painters kettle with water, a small sponge and a water spray bottle to remove excess caulk and smooth. Use absolute minimal caulk. It is easier to paint a straight line in a sharply defined right-angle than a rounded out angle. Caulk should go on after first primer and not on bare wood.

Sorry, but... Watching you climb up and down the A frame ladder to put paint on your brush just really frosted my punkins'! Arggghhhh! Most folks will have a 6 foot step ladder with a fold out shelf to keep stuff, like a bucket. But, that is not so good either as you may have to reach over top edge of bucket to dunk your brush. Cheapest and easiest thing to do is to take the handle from a 1 gallon bucket, twist it into an 'S' shape and hang your cut bucket from a ladder rung, or the hinge hanging to the side of the building. You can buy 'S' hooks if'n ya wanna be faincy an all dat kinda stuff, Broh? You can pick the ladder up and move it and leave the bucket swangin' thar feller! The shed is gorgeous, and your videos are great! My question is... Do you ever feel like whatever size shed you made, you shudda made it at least a couple feet wider, longer, and taller? Just my 2 cents, for what it's worth?

The editing on these videos is terrible. You poured primer into a pan....then start caulking holes. You can't paint over wet caulk.

That was trim paint, he was talking as if your siding is not preprimed like his t1-11 was.
