I built this bench today using pressure treated (6) 2x4x8, (4) 5/4 x6x8 deck boards and (2) 4x4x8 post. I already had some leftover 2 1/2” and 3” deck screws and structural screws from a deck project. Had about $70 in lumber ( add about $20-30 if needed to buy screws)Only change I made was i used the leftover pieces of 4x4 to add extra legs under the seat because it wanted to tip over when sitting down, works great. Easy build on Sunday afternoon after church. Sorry can’t figure out how to post a picture. I recommend this design over the many others I contemplated building.

Also made legs 35” and seat height 18”. I am 5’9 both sons little over 6’ but wife and daughter both about 5’2 and 5’4” so this height works better for us

Great idea. I used a lot of the steps in this build but I’m glad I didn’t cut everything at once first. Took longer but I had to measure and cut individually to get a great fit. Also I used 19” for the 2x6 seat height so 20”after the deck board is on. Then I used a 50 degree angle because 45 wasn’t steep enough to get to the 4x4 post that I cut at 36” high. Also I used 2”x4” mending plates on both sides to help hold that angle to the upper frame. I used leftover composite decking for the top and seats. Cut seats at 11.5” wide. Also used extra 4x4s on each seat end too help make it rock solid as mentioned in other comments it was pretty tippy without them. I’m happy with how it turned out. Now I just have to use it to see how well it works. It’s Heavy…

One of the best shooting bench built… Very Solid and sturdy… you can’t build something small, light weight and portable and not trade off for absorbing recoil unless you’re shooting air rifles… IMO…. Good Video 👍

We have had this bench kzbin.infoUgkxNuLbiXpLQ-mKH5NlyjrNe88hiCk2N3Cg for five years now and it is still holding up strong with minimal signs of wear! So much so that I decided to get another one to store other stuff. The first one is still beautiful, strong and is easy to clean. It’s been in our living room and we store toys and blankets in it and it really holds quite a bit of stuff. I purchased a similar one two years ago from Aldi and let me tell you that one fell apart in less than six months of use. Get this one if you’re looking. Seriously worth it. Five years already and I can’t believe it looks this good and has held up for the price! Awesome bench, the new one I just got is identical.

Good bench except for the design of the seat section, when I sat down the bench done a flip with the 3 leg design so I had to add 2 more legs out under the outer seat. So if any of you build this bench be careful when you sit down......

Thanks for the video and design. I make one and have a couple of notes. With the 4x4 length cut at 37" this is more like counter height vs table height. I started with the length extended on the side and middle runners which moved the 4x4s forward also. If you straddle the bench when you shoot then you don't have a tipping problem. If you sit straight on it, it might tip a bit depending on your weight. I'm 260lbs and it tipped so I added a left over deck board as a leg on the end of the bench. I used 23" for the bench height.

Thanks for the video. Mine is coming along nicely. Only thing I'm doing differently is I'm using 2x6's for all of the platform framing, using 4x6's instead of 4x4's for the legs, and cutting some pieces of decking to screw under the legs where they contact the ground. Also GRK structural screws for the framing ($$$). It's going to be heavy but that's what the tractor is for. Thanks again.

I keep a couple metal studs around to do the same thing. The metal studs seems to be much straighter than wood. Very lightweight, not affected by water, and cheap to replace.

Great set of plans for a quality bench. I extended mine to accommodate the .50 BMG right of the bat and made the posts a little taller since I'm taller, i wanted the seat a little higher. Was able to build it all in one day, about to go out and do some final sanding before putting it on the range. Thanks for uploading.

I saw a rough overall height based on the leg length plus decking. What did you use for the seat height? I am guessing somewhere around 22-24"?
@bryankeane6128
@bryankeane6128 Жыл бұрын
This video was helpful and I believe the bench is a good design and overall economical and as lightweight as wooden bench could be. For some reason the boards you have labeled as 16 7/8" did not fit for us...i believe we had to recut boards to something like 17 1/2. Also, it is worth noting that someone wanting to build this could buy one 8' 2x6 and one 10' 2x6 instead of (3) 8 footers. The part you actually sit on you could make from a single 10footer (same width as the table top) and the two 45" boards in the frame can be made from the 8 footer.
