Here i build a simple and compact shooting bench table from workshop scraps and wood offcuts and some readily available parts. Going forward i will end up personalising it to suit my setup when using the Anschutz 9015, Airmaks katran and Airarms hft500
there's no fancy joinery and i only used very basic tooling. Its ended up pretty stout and still light enough to be easily portable

Just started watching this . When you were hogging out the saw kerfs, for all the world it sounded like Peter Piper Picked a peck of pickled peppers.... If I'm making a deep bore with my Forstner bit, I'll first use the bit to make a 3-5mm deep starter hole. Then I'll switch over to a paddle boring bit that's about 5mm smaller in diameter and go nearly all the way through. Then I'll get my Forstner bit to finish it up to get that nice clean hole. This method really take the wear and tear off my Forstners. One thing I did notice was it wasn't the best for easy carrying. Might I suggest mounting the handle to a block and screw the block just outboard of the outer legs, flush with the table edge, with the handle mounted to the side. This way, it'll be like carrying a rifle case, with the weight coming straight down.

Hi Mike, your dead right about the forsters. Tbh the larger od ones ive got in the shed are pretty well ruined nowdays, the smaller od black ones absolutely eat through even 3" laminate but they stay in the workshop. Once the clips finally arrive for the legs, I'll be moving the handle to the side and adding some stout eyelets for a shoulder strap too. Lugging all the stuff and cameras about is a chore so I plan to make it all as portable as possible eventually 😉

Great idea for folk for a bit of back garden shooting .. If it helps for a cheap very flexible stool for benchrest - I was advised to look for cheap drummers stools on ebay

Nice build,,couple of ideas for you,,you could use snap suitcase catches instead of having to put screws in to secure legs,,also what I did on mine,I drilled two inch and a quarter holes about 4" apart and then removed the middle, I did this towards the edge on the balance point and it is to put your hand through to carry it by your side ,hope that makes sense?

Could you improve the stability if you put an angle on the leg blocks so when they are opened the legs would be splayed front and back? The legs would still close up the same but the hinges woulld allow them to go past 90º.
