This is a quick explanation about how I build "JIC" Type Containers, or Cache Storage Containers that are impervious to humidity, water, air or other contaminates. You don't need to buy a Mossberg JIC just for the case! hahah Use this idea to pack up a wide array of thing for a SHTF or WROL situation or even just to leave gear in the woods that you use at your favorite hunting spot to save you from having to carry it in and out all season! Use this idea to build a SURVIVAL KIT filled with items that you may need in an emergency and leave it at the spot or spots that you might visit or places you visit frequently!
You can store food, rice, beans, canned goods, ammo, ammunition. handguns, rifles, important documents or anything else that you need to be protected from the elements. Use your imagination and have fun building your very own JIC, Just In Case Type of Cache Container!
I hope this tip helped you and saves you all HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS by not having to buy pre-made/pre-built/purpose built caches that cost hundreds for just a single container.
Visit your local commercial specialty plumbing supply company to get 6 or 8 inch PVC to be able to fit even more of your "toys" in this type of cache!
Thanks for watching and all of your support on my little channel and HAPPY BUILDING!

You, sir, are gonna save lives one day when SHTF. As a matter of fact, I'm jumping in my vehicle right now to go to my local hardware store and make 3 of these. Thank you for the instructional video :D Stay frosty, safe, and alive!

Thanks for the info Sky; glad I come across your channel, as before seeing the video, I was looking to buy a JIC for my 12g Mossberg. Change of plans... Sunday i'm hitting H.D, grabbin the parts I need, and building one. Good looking out with your support for truck drivers. I've been a driver for most of my life; I've driven straight jobs, pulled flat beds, dry box, refer units, containers, them 20' pups w single & twin screws. Fact is, if trucks stop, America stops. I never could understand those that look down on people just because of their job. Dosent matter if youre the fry guy at McDonald's, a garbage man, or a dishwasher, they got my respect, and for the ones that are too good for (certain) jobs, at best, they're the punchline to a bad joke. Sorry for the rant, but I have a tough time dealing with smug fucks and the stupid, but again, I appreciate the info. I subbed cause i'm hoping to learn some more cool shit from ya! God Bless. -Northeast Patriot 🇺🇸

Most plumbing companies have "pipe boneyards" you can go in and ask if they have one and they usually will give you whatever it is you want. As long as it isn't everything lol. Although sometimes, they do charge you. But it's usually way cheaper than the store.

Some grease on the rubber seals of those caps will help to keep them from drying out or degrading, and will also help to improve the seal.

I've seen a lot of instructional videos and they all used white pvc, spray paint it and then it flakes off. Why not just used black conduit right from the start? Less work and it will hold the finish longer. Granted the finish doesn't matter if your going to bury it. I'm talking about the ones that paint it to look better. Great concept though! I love this idea and will be making a 6" tube for my 4-Wheelers using the black conduit.

WHY NOT GLUE ONE END & put some toilet wax on the other end, slip on the cap, then use rescue tape on the seam where cap and pipe meets?

A few spritzes of black or white Flex Seal (depending on the color of the PVC) around the wing nut will not only prevent rust and corrosion, but it will also eliminate any attention grabbing glare in the event that, that end of your tube is exposed to sunlight. It will also make the red cap blend in a lot better with the PVC as well.

My friend did one of these,used a posthole digger down about 6 feet. He checked it two years later,the ground had shifted and broke the container,guns were rusted solid!
@MyBigThing2010
@MyBigThing2010 8 жыл бұрын
haha...sorry but that is just funny right there....that's why you don't use a post hole digger....ever heard of a shovel?...bury them on their side and there's less of a profile to fight any shifting...also it will move easier with a shift...or just know your area and don't bury your stuff in retarded spots.lol thanks for watching and the comment!
@MyBigThing2010

btw...your burying stuff for access in an emergency and do it can be readily accessed...not burying a body! 6 feet is WAY OVERKILL! Lol ...work smarter not harder my friend haha

Wonder if it`s possible to make a cache that would be impervious to metal detectors.
@MyBigThing2010
@MyBigThing2010 8 жыл бұрын
this would be your best bet if you didn't put anything metal inside...otherwise if it is possible it would be way expensive, deep and a pain in the ass...better off using this and burying where metal detectors would never be used ...they aren't going to sweep a forest for caches...ever...it'll take too much time n money

Why not simply use a 5 gallon bucket and lid?
@MyBigThing2010
@MyBigThing2010 10 жыл бұрын
Personally I find it very hard to fit long objects into a short 5 gallon bucket, plus if you were to use a bucket for food and random items you need to do a little more work to ensure the seal. There is something about the buckets that rodents like and I have had better luck avoiding them using PVC....thanks for watching!
@hey.hombre
@hey.hombre 5 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you intend to store. A bucket is not long enough for a small rifle, shotgun or breakdown bow and arrows. Maybe a handgun and ammo.

I didn't read all the comments, but you could replace that bole and wing-nut with Stainless Steel for 2 or 3$ more. They'd last longer.

@MyBigThing2010 7 жыл бұрын
yea, it's been mentioned and the hardware that's on it is stainless already...but stainless steel still rusts after time...that's why I mentioned greasing them and a protective cap. thanks for the comment and for watching!

@MyBigThing2010
@MyBigThing2010 7 жыл бұрын
+Jeff Dein cool! I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful. I can tell you...they work/hold up very well ;) ....nearly indestructible design. also you can just use a cap on each end with pvc cement to store anything non metallic if you want your stuff to be undetectable by metal detectors so it's not dug up and disappear on you. ...if you have access to a metal detector I'd swipe the area first to make sure there's no signals to be sure your cache is never seen by someone else's shovel. great for mylar sealed food with oxygen absorbers...long term storage in a dark, cool place ;) ...also, any non metalic emergency gear like a ceramic knife (antibacterial as a bonus), matches, fire starters, paracord, socks! or anything else you personally use as part of your kit. hope that helps you out!
@MyBigThing2010
@MyBigThing2010 7 жыл бұрын
+Jeff Dein if your unsure about your conditions and mylar being detectable...just use regular foodsaver bags instead.....you really don't need bags at ask if you do a whole one of just pasta, rice or beans...just cement it closed with oxygen absorbers and bury it. you can fit a lot of loose food in one of these using this method.

People I know have been putting Small Tubes like this in the walls of there Basements Using the Bolt on End as Fake Safes to Keep Money or other Stuff Safe, for Long Term Storage or just when they go out of Town for a while, would you take the chance of opening a sludge tube with just a lot of Waste in, I didn't think so, Besides these are never really thought of and are really over looked as just Pipes There are a lot of other house building items that can be turned into stuff like this.

Why not just cap one end and glue a female adapter over the other then screw in a male plug so there’s no metal to rust or corrode. You could even install a Schrader valve onto it so you could pull a vacuum on the whole canister afterwords and then fill it with nitrogen
@MyBigThing2010
@MyBigThing2010 5 жыл бұрын
Cole Everett if you want to over complicated it you're more than welcome to...btw the atmosphere we live in is majority nitrogen already....look it up.....the point of the video was to do it on the cheap and easily.. Common man approach. Not too many guys I know have 100% nitrogen gear laying around....

David Gomez well let's see...there's metal inside and depending on what you put in it...so yes...so don't butt it somewhere where someone is likely to be running a metal detector....if you use a permanent cap on both ends and load it with foods then no a detector won't find it
