In this video I'm demonstrating how to build a simple Arduino on a breadboard, based on Atmel Atmega8/168/328 microcontroller.
When I build my Arduino projects usually I don't need the whole Arduino board and all of it's functionality. In many cases I use only basic input and output pins and that's why I assemble a simplified version of Arduino.
When connecting your Arduino to a power supply or a battery make sure that you connect the red jumper wire to the positive terminal and the blue one to the GND. There is no protection against reversed polarity and you may blow something up.
The circuit diagram for this project is available on my website:
electronfun.com/project_1.php
My build is based on:

FANTASTIC JOB, PERFECTLY EXPLAINED ALSO. I HAVE A QUESTION: WOULD THIS ARCHITECTURE WORK WITH A 3 Nm STEPPER MOTOR OR ARE THERE CHANGES\REPLACEMENTS IN ORDER TO TAKE THE HIGHER VOLTAGE AND CURRENT REQUIRED? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP

First... thank you for taking the time to make and share this! Second... I am very much at the starting stages of all this. What is the estimated cost US of making your own like this? Third... This IDY controller is more for just making very simple projects? (if so, like what?) Thanks again!!!

The estimated cost may vary. You can buy all parts in a US store like Adafruit, SparkFun, etc. or you can buy them on eBay, directly from China with free shipping option, but you have to wait for your parts 2-4 weeks. American estimated price without the breadboard and jumper wires (I assume you already have these) is about $13. If you want to order these parts from eBay and wait 2-4 weeks the price would be about 50% lower. Some very cheap parts are sold in bulk on eBay, but the price is very low. Let's take 10k resistors: SparkFun sells them for $0.25 a single peace; you can buy 50 pieces on eBay for $0.91 and use the rest for future projects. The main difference between this DIY Arduino and the regular board is the lack of USB port for programming. If you want to learn how to program the DIY Arduino watch my video entitled "How to program an Arduino on a breadboard (without USB)" How to program an Arduino on a breadboard (without USB) The regular Arduino is usually used to test new projects before you build them and close in a project box. When the project is working fine and you want to start using the finished version, you can use the DIY Arduino soldered on a prefboard instead of the regular Arduino. The regular Arduino is sold for about $25, but you can make your own for $13 or less.

I will be happy if you could make videos on the following topics below! 1. How to solder pretty well on a perf Board ? 2. Are there alternative ways to programme the Arduino? If so, what are they? 3. Basic components every person interested in electrical system must have! 4. Some logic gates 5. How to code Arduino Uno I.e., How to write a programme for Arduino Uno instead of copying it from net? Hope you would reply soon!

nice man, great job! i have a question tho. is the simplified version of arduino applicable to build like speech recognition robot? just wondering :/
@ElectronFunCom
@ElectronFunCom 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! To answer your question - Arduino is not the best platform for a speech recognition project. I would rather use something with Linux on board, e.g. Raspberry Pi.

hello sir how much power supply u r providing here and capacitor of which voltage you have used plz reply sir..

Hello, I haven't checked the power consumption, but the breadboard and the jumpers will probably make it a bit higher than if you made a PCB. You need capacitors rated for more than 5V.

is i can program breadboard arduido(which one you made) directly to pc... without any originol arduino

+Shubham Sukhwal You could do that, but you would need a USB to TTL converter to plug the whole thing to the computer.

excuse me but why did you hook 21th AREF pin to 5V rail?
@ElectronFunCom
@ElectronFunCom 8 жыл бұрын
+deus.ex Hi, I connected pin 21 to 5V rail, because I wanted the analog pins to work with 5V, just like on a standard Arduino Uno board. You can also change the AREF voltage, see how here: tronixstuff.com/2013/12/12/arduino-tutorials-chapter-22-aref-pin

hew there in looking foward to build a arduino much similar to the real one...how would i have to connect my female heads??? and also can u give me any idea to bootload my atmega 328 without arduino board
@ElectronFunCom
@ElectronFunCom 8 жыл бұрын
How do you want to build your Arduino board? Do you want to use a piece of perfboard? If yes, connecting your female header pins shouldn't be a problem. What do you mean by bootloading the Atmega 328 without Arduino board?

Maybe it is, but it helps to learn. Sometimes you can't fit the whole board to an enclosure - you can shrink the Arduino this way.
