What does the bearing spacers do?
@tacticsboardshop4 жыл бұрын
Spacers allow you to tighten the axle nuts all the way to prevent your wheels from shifting from side to side, and to keep your bearings in place when you do any powerslides. They're very important for downhill longboarding where you are going 40+ mph, but there's really no need for them in normal skateboarding situations. So they're optional on normal skateboards. Cheers! - Tim

2:14 That might be a dumb question, but how do you know which side of the bearing is the shield ?
@tacticsboardshop4 жыл бұрын
The shot at 2:14 is the back side of the bearing, and you can see the plastic retainer and the ball bearings. The shot at 2:40 is the shield side (red shield). The shields come in different colors depending on the bearing, but they are usually flat with a thin rubber seal along the circumference of the inside lip of the bearing. Some bearings have metal shields on both sides. Maybe this video will help you see the different sides of the bearings. I hope that helps! - Tim kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4W3onprip2Vmas

@tacticsboardshop4 жыл бұрын
Skate tools are super convenient. I think it's a good idea for every skater to have a tool because it's way easier to have the one skate tool instead of bringing 3 different wrench sizes and a screw driver in your backpack.

im just wondering, do all trucks fit with all decks?
@tacticsboardshop Жыл бұрын
You can mount any size truck on any standard skateboard deck. Ideally, the truck axles would match or be within a 1/4 inch of the deck width, but yes you can still skate it with trucks that are bigger/smaller than the deck. 👍

sorry to bother you but would you need risers for a 8.5 truck also the skateboard is an 8.4?
@tacticsboardshop2 жыл бұрын
The size of the trucks, but the size of the wheels that determine if you need risers or not. So if you have wheels that are 55mm or smaller, then you shouldn't need risers. But if you have wheels bigger than 55mm or you like to skate your trucks really loose then risers might be a good idea. Have an awesome New Year! Cheers! 🥂 - Tim

What should I do with my trucks? Both of my trucks bushings have cracks in them. Should I replace them or keep skating?
@tacticsboardshop4 жыл бұрын
If they still feel good and skate how you like them to, then just keep rocking them. If they make your truck flop and cause you to get wheelbite all the time, then you should switch them out. It's funny you should ask because next week's video is about bushings! 😆✌ - Tim

What's the thickness of a board?
@tacticsboardshop5 ай бұрын
The widths of skateboards varies a lot depending on people's preferences usually between 7.5 - 10 inches. The thickness however is pretty standard across all skateboard manufacturers. It's 7 thin veneer plies of hard maple. The thickness will vary slightly depending on what factory it was made at but it's generally around 10mm or 0.4 inches thick. I hope that answers your question! 👍🛹 - Tim

Is spacer necessary?
@tacticsboardshop4 жыл бұрын
The bearing spacers are not necessary. They do help reduce some of the lateral stress on the bearings and reduce some of the wiggling and vibrations that cause speed wobbles, so I'd recommend using them if you like to skate big transition, bomb hills, or do downhill longboarding. But for 99% of situations in normal skateboarding, they aren't necessary. Cheers! - Tim

@@tacticsboardshop my indys trucks have 2 on each side
@tacticsboardshop3 жыл бұрын
@@SirCulzier Are you talking about the washers? The little rings that go on the axle on either side of the bearings? It's best if you have 2 washers on each side of the wheels (8 total) but if you're missing one or more of the washers, it's not a huge deal. They aren't completely necessary, and you can skate without the washers, but the washers will help make your bearings roll faster for longer. I hope that answers your question! - Tim

do you need bearing spacers or speed washers?
@tacticsboardshop4 жыл бұрын
I definitely recommend using the speed washers because it'll keep your bearing from getting pinched by the axle nut and hanger. The bearing spacers will help too if you like bombing hills, going really fast and doing a lot of power slides, but they're not necessary in 99% of regular skating circumstances. So if you got 'em, you might as well use them, if you don't, eh. I personally haven't used bearing spacers in years and haven't noticed the difference. Cheers! - Tim
