You can use a whole length of wood for the floor plate and then cut off the excess where door is positioned afterwards, this way you know its all straight :)

Are the walls concrete? What kind of anchors are you using to fasten the studs to walls?

quick question: as far as I know, 4x2 is not exactly 100mm wide. is it possible to fit 100mm celotex insulation inbetween the frame?

Can you fix the floor plate anywhere on a suspended timber floor or in other words, can you fix to the deck, or do you have to fix the wall plate into floor joists? Also how can you be certain that you're not going to hit a pipe or wire when drilling through the floor?
@D_2_da_K875 жыл бұрын
Because the screws he used on the floor aren't long enough to go through the joist and the floorboard.
@runthomas4 жыл бұрын
what about fixing to ceiling...did you just use screws directly into plasterboard.... is that gonna be strong enough....and there was no looking for joists.

If you are hammering screws into the wall, why don't you use nails ???

Good video, can see clearly a lot of what is needed, and thanks for detailing the materials. Would be good to know the tools used too (e.g. the masonry drill - model, power, setting needed etc?). But great coverage otherwise, thank you.

Where are they going to go? Same as a screw really, they just open up the plug in the end.
@tonydavies325 жыл бұрын
They will once he tightens the screw. The plug will open up in the wall and pull the timber tight to the wall

Not particularly useful. No explanation about setting out or spacing. Looks way wider than stand 400 or 600 centres.
