How To Build A Torsion Box Top Workbench with Storage

A torsion box top workbench is essential to any workshop where square and accuracy are key. Having a flat surface to work on is paramount. In this video, I show how I made a torsion box top workbench and outfield table with storage. The top is made from all plywood with a hardwood surround and the base can be anything you like. I need to build a few torsion boxes for my shop. I also own a sprayer but for things like that would probably roll or at least everything except the top coat, though if you “ roll and tip “ (follow behind the roller with a very fine bristle brush ) you can get a pretty darn good finish. Thank you for this excellent video.

Great build. I got a few ideas for my future builds from watching this. I just finished up making the 2nd 10 drawers of the 20 for my miter station cabinets. I sealed all the plywood, inside and out using boiled linseed oil.

How did you level the top? Did I miss that?

As a torsion box top it is flat due to the way it is constructed. The internal spine of the table along with glue and screws assures that it stays flat.
