How to build a Trade Tested (Palmako) log cabin

Looks great. Whereabouts round the mountain are you? Do you get much wind and how has it held up?

Hi there, that's a great build!!!! I'm currently looking at one of their cabins. Did you screw the steeling roofing into the cabin purlins or did you install some battens on top of the roof boards? Did you put any install any underfloor or roof insulation or did you find it was well enough insulated via the solid timber without it?

Hi mate. Thanks for your video i have the same cabin and was wondering how your floor feels for flex. I see you used 3 bearers, is that enough to remove the flex off the joist? Thanks mate

Sorry for the late reply. We used 4 x 4 bearers and have found no flex whatsoever.

Wow nice cabin, we were planning to make a lakeside cabin (palmako) and thinking to upgrade it lke what u did and. Did u put some wood oil for the entire cabin before painting it?

Sorry for the late reply. We just undercoated, then top coated with two coats using Resene paints. There is a bit of shrinkage after 12 months, so will give it another top coat soon.
