Great idea! Great production as well. I would have welded the hinge on the inside of the box to protect the pin. Other than that this is great!

I agree. That hinge is definitely a weak link. If you scroll through the comments there is a link of someone who built one inspired by this. He put locks on both sides and did away with the hinge altogether. This was a good idea. Thanks for commenting. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.

Awesome ideal.. however shouldn’t your thing be inside the box ? Because now you lock is only as strong as your hinge pin.. which can be tapped out with a hammer and nail,,,

Weak point would be the hinge. File one side knock out the pin and it’s loose. Don’t know what it would take from that point but getting that far is about 60 seconds. I would at minimum weld one side of the hinge pin. Great idea though.

Thanks for the suggestion. I like that idea. I did think about that as a weak point. I was thinking about tabs on both ends to cover the hinge bolt or mounting the hinge internally. I will try yours first. 👍

He can just Weld the hinge pin to one leaf

Add short chain links inside the box - so when the "Thief" defeats your hinge he is demoralized at his failure. Like your paint booth.

The Master Lock is definitely the weak link. This particular lock can be opened with a comb pick almost as fast as if you had the key: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6nQnqqNrLxpirs Also, if the surface appearance is anything to go on, the body is made from cast zinc, which means you could probably melt a hole through it with a propane torch, like in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5uplZJpmL9gn5o
