The shower system is great. I use it on all my bathrooms. One thing I would like to add for your washers is that you need 1 inch coverage of glue on all sides of washers. I would also recommend picking up the sausage tube gun. I started 10 years ago with the regular caulk gun tunes. The sausage gun is well worth the money. If you don't use the full tube, you can just push out the dried up part and the old tube is ready to use.

Love the Wedi System for all the reasons you state. I find it bullet proof. Expensive but worth it for a DIYer

👍 I’ve been using it for little over a decade now. Probably have done 30 showers with it by now. Never an issue that I can recall It is a bit pricey though, Thanks 👍

Nice work! Not sure if this video is sponsored, but curious if you have a true favorite between WEDI, Laticrete, or Schluter? Not having to do the banding like Schluter looks like a real plus, but then again Schluter seems to be a big go-to for many people, as it is a solid product regardless.
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher2 жыл бұрын
Nope not sponsored, 😄. Not sure if WEDI would even do that with anyone 😳 But, that is a great question. And there are many reasons why one would be better than the other. I will make a video someday explaining that, but the reason Schluter is so popular is because its #1 available just about everywhere, and secondly its very flexible. You can screw up cuts and its not a big deal. You can also modify easily to an odd drain location. WEDI is fairly precise with the drain location. not much room for error. If you get to the job and the drain can't be moved to center, you can easily cut Schluter and pack mud where its needed. (you should typically have the kerdi membrane already for the system so no need to run out for anything) where as WEDI would require getting their subliner and 620 sealant if you needed to do that. Laticrete is pretty much like Schluter but not easily available everywhere (that's the main reason I don't use it all that much...) But I really do like WEDI and like that the foam boards are waterproof all the way through. Great for around windows and many other features. I'm always torn on which one to use, but price sometimes makes that decision (WEDI is more $$). Thanks 👍

Great video in the series Steve. Question about the comment at 26:14 about screws into the curb. My understanding is the curb is foam. That does not seem like a good material to secure to. Am I missing something?

Like all other reviews, your videos are top notch. My question is shower door. How do you screw track to a foam curb? I’m in the planning stage of a total bathroom remodel on a 50 year old house. We’ll built I might add. Thank you!

Thanks 😊 and with a full waterproof foam curb like this you can just drill through tile and use anchors 👍 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp_agXxqas92ias

What collar would you use around a single handle Delta diverter valve?
@vincentguarino4262 Жыл бұрын
Question..? I noticed in the Wedi Fundo Primo video you did with the Home Repair Tutor that you installed the mixing valve flexi collar the opposite direction of this video... Which is the correct way? Beveled edge in or out? Thx

Always great content, I'm still in process of deciding which products to use for my 70 year old hall bath Reno. If using a fiberglass/acrylic shower base pan, should we use go board or wedi for the walls to tile on? And by the way I demoed the bathroom a month ago ( wire mess, plaster and cast iron tub) and I'm still sore. Not sure how you do this every 2 weeks! Salute!
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher2 жыл бұрын
😆 yeah it can be exhausting! If money wasn’t a factor, I’d go with Wedi. It’s a better product than go board IMO 👍

What is minimum drying time of the systems that use the board sealant to those use bands/thinset before doing flood tests?
@LearnPlumbing Жыл бұрын
We where hired today to look at a shower that the owner was told had a puddle under the house. From under the house I recognized the drain and the board to be a Wedi system. There is rotten floor amd mold approx 12" away from the drain hole and no water damage around the drain. Checked the water pipes in the wall and the shower head. Water is leaking out a subflooring seam below. From the top someone has siliconed the shit out of everything. The grout joints don't look to bad. I'm thinking some of the water is getting below the tile and not into the drain due to how they mortared the top drain piece in place. Can you please speak on what you do to make sure the water that gets pass the tile makes it to the drain. Thank You

Does the location (height) change of the 2 inch drain if you have to use 1/16 to 1/8 inch underlayment for leveling
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher2 жыл бұрын
Not really if your only talking that much. I’d be concerned for anything more than a 1/4”. Then you’ll want to cut pipe higher 👍

I have never ripped out a bathroom until now. Its alot of work. My bathroom was done half ass. The pan was leaking. Now toilet is leaking. So I decided to rip it all out. Couldn't believe what people do. I had two ceilings to rip out. I'm now at a loss what to do next. I also ripped out flooring down to the wood floor. My plumbing is not right. My hot and cold is switched. Plus they used thin pvc pipes and bent it. I have No clue what I am doing. I really need help. I didnt know what I the hell I got myself into. I want tile in my whole shower and I also want a bench. I like the fact that you water proof the floor on the outside of the shower. To me that is very important because of having children in the house. I am also putting tile down on my main floor outside of the shower. I need both of my bathrooms done in our home. I'm a girl trying to do this by myself. Its very frustrating to me because I just dont know where to start. An I need to re-stud some places in my bathroom. What is the best shower kit? I dont ever want to tear this bathroom out ever angain. This job needs to be one and done. It was a pain to rip everything out. I just need help to find the right kit that will last a lifetime. Can you please help me figure out what kind of shower kit that I should use? Thank you.

What is the difference with doing this on a concrete slab instead of a wooden subfloor?
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher2 жыл бұрын
Not a whole lot, mostly just prep for the drain. Nothing too different when it comes to a curbed shower, curbless is another story. 👍
