Typically sheetrock should be hung horizontal, not vertical. This would have prevented you from breaking the sheetrock on the floor when pushing it up against the studs. Top piece first, then bottom piece. Baseboard will cover the 1/2 inch gap!! :) Good job for a do it your-selfer!

In the UK it is hung vertically. Less waste.

My wife and I are going to be walling off a section off our bedroom (which is way too large) and considering doing it ourselves. After watching you do this, I think we may be able too! As someone who is pretty good at this stuff. I like the honesty of your skill. This stuff is not easy and takes a while to get good at. This is a lot of drywall/mud for your first time, so great job on the effort.

Let me make a few suggestions - when mudding drywall use an 8" or 12" spatula. also when sanding ceiling or high places, use a drywall wall stick it will make your job easier. great job overall.

Did you use drywall tape Over the joints????. If not, then the mud will cracks eventually and it will reveal every single butt-joint that you mudded. Great job with the framing by the way.

when you are attaching the studs to the Ceiling, can you just drill the screw right in or do you need to locate the studs in the floor above?

That depends on which way the ceiling studs run. It’s always good to locate everything before you start nailing though.

What did you use to cut the sheetrock and the furring to make it fit ? and also what's the name of the paste you use to cover the holes and make it flat? and what kind of tape is that after covering the holes? Thanks

I cut the sheetrock with a simple box cutter, I used a miter saw to cut the furrings. To cover the holes I used all purpose joint compound. The tape is regular paper drywall joint tape.
