Well.... I'm glad my process got stalled after registering a domain... what I wanted to do wasn't easy to achieve (building a site and a store). This video spelled it all out for me. I just wish there was an affiliate link for you (since you said this wasn't sponsored). I'll go check the description to see if there is one -.I'd noticed others promote it in the past. Thanks for the early Christmas present!

Good stuff as always. My 2 cents. Proof all the content, especially text. Have someone else do it as well, because you're so familiar with the content you will miss obvious typos etc. (like trail instead of trial - audible link). Don't rely on the software to spell and grammar check. Attention to detail is the difference between sites that work and those that suck. Quality work on the site enhances the brand and gives customers a good feeling about product quality.

Hi Matt when it come to shipping and handling How do you figure the cost ? Do you know the cost before posting the project for sell, like I know weight but what about distance is that figure by you or is there a place in squarespace that helps with that. Like when a customer is in check out and they put zip code in does it calculate cost so customer knows ? What happens if you have to calculate and you under bid it how do you go about informing the customer , and how does that go had you ever had to do that?

Hey there! I’m just starting out super part time as I am a full time employee currently (similar to what you describe your starting out experience). I’ve made a few things so far but have many ideas in my head that I’d like to put into digital reality. What plan development/drafting program do you use to create woodworking plans which you sell on your website?

Hey Matt. Thanks for your awesome content. Out of curiosity, which designing software do you use to make your plans? Solidworks? Fusion 360? Also, how did you learn how to use it? KZbin? Online courses? Books? Classroom setting? Thank you so much! Been following you for years!

Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing. "and the times..... they are changing" (Bob Dylan:) Nearly 26 years ago I was for a short business trip back in the Netherlands, where I bought a thin book "How to build a website in 20 minutes" No templates back then, only HTML codes. Of course it took me far more than 20 minutes (just like woodworking projects that take me much longer than content makers say in their YT-videos.) But in spring 1997 my website was up and running (that time I was the third company in my home-town with a website. The other two were big companies with hundreds of employees). For about 20 years I managed the website myself. After that our son took it over. He made a new, more modern website, but only our cottage that we rent to tourists, is there.

Very informative video Matt! You really simplified the process of creating a commerce website. I noticed you didn’t mention Etsy at all. I was planning on creating an Etsy sight first before a commerce website. Am I doing it in the wrong order?

Hi Matt, really enjoyed this informative video.... I plan to build a website very soon and this will be very helpful Question though....noticed when you first uploaded the jewelry box it was listed at $49....at the end of video it was $199 is this the new price or just an example of how to do it....I like your "markup" 🙂

Awesome tutorial, thank you Matt!! I’ve been meaning to do this (I actually have a Squarespace tab open in my internet browser and have some things started), but I don’t have any products yet so I’ve been waiting to launch the site. Do you recommend holding off until I have something people can buy, or should I do it anyway and just include some blog posts or links to my KZbin/Instagram?
@731Woodworks
@731Woodworks Жыл бұрын
I would wait until I had something to drive customers to. If there is nothing for them to learn or buy, then they don't have a need to go there. If you have instructional info there, then you can go ahead and start posting that to your website to get it going.

@731Woodworks
@731Woodworks Жыл бұрын
Yes you can. You just have to tie your domain name in. I've done it several times. It's fairly easy to do, just do a quick google search on how to do it.

You can do it either way. you can actually go into the design tab and click templates and start a new template that won't be live until you set it as live.
