I like the way this stair is built - very efficient. Unfortunately, it wouldn't pass UK building regs, due to the narrow end of the winders coming to a point. They have to be just under 2 inches minimum (50mm) over here.

Thanks. I wish I did make it 2”. The original stairs were about 28” wide super steep and about a 6” tread. I can only imagine how many people fell down those old stairs

One day I might make a winder like you guys in the US, it is far quicker than here in the 🇬🇧, I’ve done a few videos on making them and we do it so different. Thanks for sharing 👍📐🔨

Doubtful this would make code in most places in the US. Ignoring being an 1/8" over on max riser height, the winder section tread is allowed to taper down to 0" and most codes I've looked at state a minimum of 6" at the narrowest part of the tread. The reason is obvious - misplace your foot at that corner, and you drop three steps instantly.

6” minimum at the narrowest point of the tread

Very neat & tidy ! Do you have a video of how you cut the staircase opening? I’d like to know how you remove the joists and ensure everything is Supported correctly.

I think I’ve covered it in past videos

Winders must be 6” at the narrow end. Minimum width of steps is 36”.
@donhuffer51672 жыл бұрын
Code riser height max is 7 3/4”. You must be in a no code area.

I had no choice go 8” rise because of height of back basement door.

Building code says minimum of 3 stringers

Sorry it doesn’t look like that second step is 8” in rise hope there only temps or you will trip

Good eye those were temporary. We put in some nice treads and risers.

Even if it wasn't 8", 7 3/4 passes. Out here we have the (7-11) method. Also just because it's not 8" don't justify that someone is going to automatically trip solely based only on that. lastly in his video, he specifically states it's a temporary set of steps.

Builders Plus Custom Homes and Remodels Why put that much time into building a temp set of stairs . I build stairs for a living and take pride in my work . Do your math and execute the job like a pro. These guys just want to look important on you tube , Hey everyone look at what I built , then I come along and bust their balls for doing it wrong . Btw 8 1/4” step passes code 7 1/4 - 7 3/4 is ideal

@@josho4971 Passes code where? - the world is bigger than wherever you are.. Why put that much time into a temp set of stairs? Because they want better access to the upper floor than a ladder perhaps? Sounds like you just wanna sound important and 'I know it all' on KZbin..

Proof is in the pudding bud and your pudding is sub par. I build stairs and do them right . I don’t need a you tube channel to make money I do it in real life
