Building your own acoustic panels is a DIY project that can significantly reduce the cost versus buying them from a company. With a couple of tools and some time, you can make these acoustic panels shown in this video for around $30-35 a panel.
Here are the tools and materials used
--------------------------------------------------------------
Drill
1,1/2 inch wood screws
Wall anchors
4 inch L brackets
Measuring tape
120 grit sandpaper
Carpenters square (Optional) used to draw straight lines,
Drill bits
Industrial staple gun( the one i used took T50 staples)
Table saw or circular saw
Pencil
Tree/shrub cover( used to cover back of panels)
Scissors(fabric cutting scissors),
Level
Pine - 3/4'' of an inch thick, 4 inches wide and 6 feet long
Plywood - 2 feet by 2 feet
IMPORTANT!!!!
If your are getting your wood from a hardware store make sure to bring a tape measure with you and measure the exact size of the wood advertised. you dont want to come up half an inch short or more!
Speaker cloth or any breathable fabric - For 1 panel 4 inch panel youll need some fabric thats 3 feet wide and 5 feet long. This will give you some headroom!
Rockwool - For those who dont live in Ontario Canada, ive linked the specific type of Rockwool i ordered. Im sure there will be an industrial supplier near you where you can pick this up from, Good luck!. There is a ton of info on the website. What your looking for is the rockwool to be in 2x4 foot sheets that is 2 inches thick! I got a pack that came with 12 sheets.

My experience with company Multiglass was great and there were no issues whatsoever! I called the company and asked for the specific type of rockwool i wanted, they placed an order and in a couple of days i drove down to the warehouse, payed and picked it up. Bring a car with a good amount of storage capacity though, I barely was able to fit this stuff in my hatchback!
