A few quick tips. Despite differences in weight and drag between a bike and a kart...... When you buy a kit like that all you need to do is ask what gearing the guys are using. Then assume most of them are using 20" tires so find the OD (outside diameter of the tire) and the OD of your tire and divide yours into theirs and increase your gearing by that amount. Also very important when dealing with a kart as long as your sprocket is not in danger of hitting the ground....just increase the diameter of the front sprocket (do not reduce the rear size) the larger overall sprockets will greatly lessen load/wear on the chain. Great review keep them coming!
@Black665 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes I talked about upping the size of the front sprocket in the video which I have done. The video coming soon. The gearing on this one is a little different because the motor is a QS138 V3 gear reduction motor. I have to use very high gearing to get any kind of top speed.

So when i built my first diy electric skateboard, i calculated speed buy using some very basic math. The outter diameter of the wheel, the kv of the motor, and the speed i was shooting for. After that, its basic math. Diameter in inches, inches in a mile, rotations per mile, rotations per kv. You get it, right? I was within 1 mph of my projected mph for voltage, diameter, gear ratio, ect. I calculated 23 mph, in reality, i clocket 22 on gps repeatability. . But let's remember, its a state board and i was running only 33% of max voltage... Its a friggin skateboard guys. 6000 kw 7364 motor before you ask. 194kv 50 amp esc with an Ebay belt drive. Still have it to this day. Still scary as hell to ride. Too much torque. It will stand up and through you off. But still fun. Just thought a basic understanding of the math would be super helpful. Cheers! 🥂

lol with that reduction gearbox on the motor, looks like you could run 1:1 on the chain-drive and still smoke the hell out the tires on that kart..
@Black662 ай бұрын
That is a fact! It will smoke the tires with any gear Ive tried so far.
@niteriderevo91792 ай бұрын
@@Black66 i run a 1kw e-drive bike.. the gear-reduction on that thing is enough to where i can pull a 46-tooth chainring on the motor and an around 23 tooth rear pretty decently with the stock controller [it's a bbshd unit] with effectively a 24 in overall diameter tire.. [it's a 20x4 fat-tire bike, 8-spd rear, though i'm only using 7 of the 8 gears, mainly for better acceleration than just running only the 46/23 gearing].. that kart's got enough grunt to likely pull a 1.5~2.5:1 overdrive on the chain and likely still light the tires.. and i'm cycling from roughly 1.5 to upwards of 3:1 on my chain-drive, though my motor kind of hates pulling the 3:1 overdrive..
@Black662 ай бұрын
@@niteriderevo9179 I hear ya! These things have that instant torque. Im going to throw a taller set of tires on the kart soon . It will not only gain ground clearance but it will help it out in the gearing department.

Your road is decently paved but there are obvious defects in the asphalt. Would you consider installing a dampening kit on the Kart? I know your concern would be bottoming out on those bumps but you can only go so fast regardless of the electric motor or engine you are running. At some point you will have to address this issue or your builds will be pointless meaning you will cap due to the kart becoming unstable.
