I can't believe that out of more than 21K views only 130 comments were left! You made that whole process look so easy. I've not tried my hand at upholstery but watching you gives me confidence. Thank you.

I really appreciate that! KZbin is an odd platform. I'm constantly confused (both for the good and bad haha) on the video performance. But either way, I love hearing that you found this helpful! Upholstery is one of my favorite "hobbies" as I don't do it a lot but I really enjoy messing around with it. You can get way more complicated and advanced with it, but much of it, I've found, is easier than you'd expect!

I built the chest and lid for my daughter. Made it out of MDF. She did the upholstery and did a great job. Just need to add the hinges and lid support. HomeDepot wants 48 for a single lid support. Buying 2 of them from Amazon for 29. Love the build. I think she'll be asking for more of your builds in the future.

I truly do appreciate this comment. My top priority and main goal in what I do is to show people you don’t have to make things complicated to get a nice end result. There are a lot of woodworkers who demand advanced techniques and perfection...and I think I that discourages many from trying. I like to be the opposite side of the spectrum. Hopefully I can encourage people to give it a shot and learn as you go. 😄

@@WoodshopDiaries if you ever want to try some newer wood or at least wood that I've never heard of until recently, you should check out the Roasted Walnut or Roasted Red Oak that Woodworkers source sells. I'm doing a review of it on my other channel. It finishes black and smells a little like a campfire when you cut and sand it. Beautiful way to add accent pieces without using stains.

I'm going to be building one of these starting Sunday. A few things I'm doing to mine is adding a diamond-tufted top (sewn in diamonds), the inside bottom and sides will also be covered with durable black fabric and the top-bottom will also be covered with the black fabric. If you are going to do any type of upholstery work I would suggest getting an air stapler. Your hand will appreciate not having the soreness from using the hand stapler.

Another simple but quality build! Love that you left your "mistske" in there.... We've ALL done similar, it's just how we recover that matters! Have you considered a track saw instead of the RipCut? My Makita SP6000 track saw gets a lot of use, and super handy when cutting a line that maybe isn't parallel or square due to scribing to existing wall.
