Whew! No confidence problem with my Dobe. Sometimes I think he is too sociable. He is the center of attention wherever he goes and loves every minute of it. The key for us was taking our puppy amongst people immediately after all his puppy shots. I am happy to add that I think he would protect us from dangerous people in a heartbeat. I have seen him act differently with certain strangers.

Every one of them really are so different! Your Dobie sounds like the "main event" of any party! But, at the same time, it's comforting to know that he would look out for you and protect your family if needed!

When my dobe was a baby, we lived at fort Polk while I was in the army. Great dog community and I was super lucky to get to introduce him to well behaved older dogs almost every day. And during tug of war I let him win occasionally to boost his confidence. Now he'll do just about anything I ask and he's so sure of himself. I love him to pieces. Best dog I ever invested in.

This is a good video, these dogs need to be extremely confident, I find this relatable with my Doberman puppy, my pit bull when he was a pup never had these confidence issues lol he’s the most confident dog I’ve ever known one time this aggressive dog was barking at my dog behind a gate and he just walked up to the dog and pissed in his face and kept on walking lmao

Can you do a video on how dogs are supposed to play with each other. Dobermans tend to play real rough. When is it too rough and when should you step in to correct them.
@JoeR2033 жыл бұрын
Good suggestion. Mine plays rough with a dog that's slightly smaller than him. There are times when the other dog doesn't want to play, so my dog gets agitated and starts to get vocal because he still wants to play. But he is so gentle with smaller breeds. He'll lay down and let them climb all over him.

Hi there. I'm a new subscriber. I do not own a doberman but hope to in the future. They have always been my fave dogs since I was a kid. I do have lots of experience working with birds of all shapes and sizes training free flying to talking. Many of the things you mention in your videos I am familiar with as techniques. I have several books on dobermans that I've collected over the years too. I have watch pretty much all your videos and have learned even more. Not everything is found in a book. I have also been a youtuber for more than a decade now. Your family is more important than youtube. Post when you feel like or when you are able to. Definitely take time off. And yes quality over quantity is always best. Thank you for all the cool vids you have made and have enjoy the humor in some of them.

Great video as always! My 4 month old is starting to show confidence issues. When we walk she barks and charges and cries and runs to me at the dog park. Flip side of that in our home or yard she rules my other dog and acts like she is the toughest thing around haha. I just want some of that to carry out of our home. I don't want my baby to be scared or charging and barking at people!

We have 4 Doberman Pinschers. Three males, one female. I can personally attest to the fact that you do not want male on male aggression! It's a hard fight to break up. Our four are: sire, two of his offspring from 2 separate litters and a female. The dam of those offspring died last year. Love your videos! We made a PVC jump obstacle on the cheap to work our dogs out on busy days or on days when it's tough to go outside.

Great video as always! I have a now 5 month old Euro pup. He lacks confidence and has a very low stress threshold - which I did not expect. (He is also very bossy/pushy around home, I'm guessing some of which is due to the lack of confidence (like a human bully)). It took us 2 months to do a 10 min loop walk in the neighborhood, and we just yesterday progressed at the park to be able to walk halfway around. Super baby steps but a little more each day (we started at 3 months old when done with shots). My dogs need are adventure dogs, ie; we bike, hike and kayak, etc. I have a trainer does want me to consider that he just might not be the right fit for me, but I keep hoping that can change with time, training and patience. This video really reinforced the things I've been doing with Kobee, which gives ME more confidence to stay the course. Thank you!

Oh thank you so much!!! This is a video for me. I got my pup from a breeder but idk how he kept the pup when he was with him. He is hand shy and kinda timid. Idk how to get him to be confident about someone petting him. It's not like I brought him for someone else, but I don't want him to be scared of someone's hands. I don't want him to snap when someone I'm talking to makes a sudden hand movement undirected to him. Please guide me. I know many people don't know how to actually "pet" an unko dog correctly and they always go for the head. And I don't have any volunteers who can help me and my pup with this. He's 3.5 months old.

Congrats on the soon-to-be new addition!! My newest rescue, a fawn, is already well bonded to me. He defers to me entering and exiting rooms and the house. He has developed a good recall and has really exceeded my expectations. One thing, though, is he really has never entered into a game of tug. Just not interested. He will chew on toys by himself occasionally, but mostly just likes to chill with me. Certainly no complaints!! Wondering if I should go out of my way to create a desire to play tug or not worry about it?

Congratulations on the new "pup," 😀👍🏾, and thank you for this video! I've never considered some of these points before, but they absolutely make sense. I learning as much as I can before buying my dog. One question: What do I do if the puppy snaps or growls at me when I block him from eating from his bowl? Whenever you can reply, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, and take care.

Thank you! If you're worried about it I would definitely use something besides your hand (broom maybe?). But if he snaps or growls at it I would give a firm "no" and take the food away for a minute or two and then try again. Once there are no snaps or growls, give the release command so he can eat, and praise heavily! That way it ends as a very positive experience.
