I made fences by hot gluing them to cereal box bases. Then I mixed sand I collected from the beach and dried (lots of great variety in size and pebbles) into cheap acrylic caulking and plastered it all over the base and around the fence posts. Dried solid yet slightly flexible, and the texture is awesome to dry brush. The more sand the better and one tube of $2.50 caulking goes a long way like that. It paints up great as bright green grass and you can even shape the caulking as you're placing it. Plus, it's sturdier than foam and doesn't sit as high. The sand and acrylic also give it a nice weight. I'll send photos if requested. Love these barriers, I'll definitely be making some when I start playing Gaslands

@@jhminiatures7867 unfortunately I don't have Facebook but I'll send those along your way. Feel free to share them. I'm not entirely sure who I picked the technique up from but it would have been a smaller fantasy rpg channel (I wish I could remember who for credit purposes but it was only a small channel and it was a while ago) I also remember taking the technique but using it for different purposes. When applying the caulking you can tease it up with popsicle sticks or toothpicks and it will keep its shape since it's more firm and sticky. Lots of fun to work with and pretty forgiving

A Bic pen cap removes cardboard backing nicely. Light sandpaper cleans them up. Adhesive spray 2 guard rail halves together for durability. Coat the rails with super glue to make them hard like wood or plastic.

Great stuff! For attaching the "poles", I just used a hole puncher and stuck the poles into the holes together with some low temp hot glue, worked like a charm.

Thanks for your inspiring videos. When it comes to gluing with PVA, I put the glue in the holes, dip the piece into the hole, take it out and let it sit for a few minutes, so that the glue hardens up a bit, then stick the pieces together.

Glue: 3M Super 77. Does not melt foam unless you spray it point blank. The downside is it's a spray and it stays tacky forever. I spray it, flock, then hit it with a clear coat to keep things from getting sticky. You'd want to change your order of operations (sawdust first, then attach the rails), but otherwise, it should work. Have you tried E600?

Gorilla Glue - the original stuff. Activated by water. Use just a tiny drop in the well you’ve made in the foam, then wet the end of the sprue (breathing on it is enough). Sets in an hour. Also expands - so bear that in mind - small amounts or very thin layers work best.

Use a spray bottle to help remove the paper from the corrugation. I also tend to be lazy and leave the back of the paper on because it makes for a stronger joint to the post. Medium density chip board is also a great basing material as it is much less thick and blends in even more. Last tip, find the right size corrugation. A lot of the standard cardboard has corrugation which is out of scale with hotwheels cars.
@jhminiatures7867
@jhminiatures7867 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you man 😉 but I want to clarify, by chip board do you mean like, cereal box card? Or are you talking about a thin particle board? And aye, size is important. Although I don't think anyone will raise too many eyebrows 😁

I watched this, and like a couple weeks later I made my own. Man mine got all warped. I couldn't figure it out, "what did I do wrong" ran through my mind alot. I think my sealant mix was a bit watered down... it looks like yours is not. You suppose that was it? Now I made the work because being wasteland centric, I just put rust effects where the warping was and made it drip down there. So, I guess they'll work
