How to Build in The Sims 2

Great video, really easy to follow and informative. I never knew about that trick with the roof angle and windows, that's great, thanks for showing it! It's amazing how much one can still learn about this game, even after all this time. I have two suggestions: First, when flattening the wall doing a split level staircase (8+8) with constrainfloorelevation cheat, it's also important to pay attention to where you want to place your windows. Windows can't be placed on altered walls (there will be a big hole in the wall), so if you would like windows on the landing in between the levels for example, I would recommend instead keeping that wall the default 16 clicks height, and then doing a short "mock floor" above it instead to fill in the empty space. Second, when making an underground garage, when you want to use a garage door, I would flatten the first row of tiles outside of the door to basement level as well, because I'm pretty sure you'll have issues with using it otherwise. Even with the limitations of TS2, I still think I'm better at building in it, and all my best Sims houses were made in 2. But most of that is probably because I don't play 3 and 4 anymore, and I sucked at building when I played them.

I'm not sure if it's kommon knowledge or not, but if all the cheats are turned off then you can place windows on diagonal walls. I recently figured it out and it really helped me. Also, when you build split level stairs you can place a floor tile on the foundation and then delete the foundation to not mess that up the walls.

Also Numenor’s unlevel walls work well for stairs. Plus for straight walls that are higher or lower, the window masks function properly. :)

Great video again, the bridge was so cute!! It took me years to build an adjoining garage to the house! Just a tip on the roof window issue, if your windows appear blank when you place them like that one just draw a wall one tile parallel behind them and they will become a window again, then delete the wall. Loving all your content thanks!

Perfect timing, I had a hard time, a couple of weeks ago, trying to put together stairs like that, and, of course, I didn't achieve it! So in addition to my comment, please don't hesitate to do more videos, you're the only YT creator I know to explain very tricky tips, in a clear way, without giving basic advice that everybody knows (if you clic on maj, the wallpaper will spread in the entire room -_-'' ). I never understood the trick when you build a kind of column on the side and elevate the terrain to make the walls taller ? anyway.

I’m so stuck can someone help? I’ve added a couple extra floors to an existing house, there’s only 3 floors, now I just want to put a roof on top. The top floor definitely has all the walls connected, but I can’t add a roof because for so,e reason the grid isn’t appearing above these walls! It’s a secure room/floor, but I can’t “go up a floor”, the arrows grey, and when I try to add a roof it’s adding it on the floor, not on top of the walls. It’s because it’s not creating a grid on top of my connected walls so I can’t make another lever but I know I made a house with way more levels in this game so what’s the problem? All the wall are definitely connected and there’s nothing weird about this floor, what could the problem be??

Hi Ana! Are you trying to put the garage door at the edge of the driveway where it connects to the next piece? Also try to enter the cheat moveObjects on and see if it works that way!
