Nice work, the only drawback is the foam will act as an insulator and prevent the panel from dissipating heat. When panels get hot they lose efficiency. An aluminum frame or a panel with standoffs or ribs would be better. Anything to allow air to circulate underneath.

Merci Hugo. Je suis ton parcours avec grand plaisir. Bon vent.
@TheSailingFrenchman
@TheSailingFrenchman 3 жыл бұрын

Just as an afterthought, we used to weld little wings onto bolt heads to prevent them from having the ability, after lots of uses, to start to turn within the bonding agent. Less of an issue when using epoxy and having people with manners tightening and loosening them.

I bought these Phaesun panels from SVB for my Mini and mounted them exactly as Hugo illustrated here. One of the panels suffered a burnout between cells after six months use and shortly thereafter the second would only charge intermittently. SVB wouldn't honour the warranty because of the way the panels were mounted. I expected a lot better.

Bon vent !

I’d be interested in an episode (or part of one) devoted to trimming sails and tuning the rig. Specifically, what is different between a mini 6.50, a clipper, and Ann Alé (e.g. trimming a square top versus a pin head mainsail).
