After the "Cry for help," I was like "Eh, maybe." After the bit at 12:30, I was dying. Liked and subscribed. I'm not one for bashing on others lack of knowledge, but that one really got me.

Thanks Carlsoti! It's always tough to determine where the first step should be in a video build guide. The line has to be drawn somewhere!

"The root of my problem is out of my control," isn't just a significant thing to realize in relation to RF signals, but also a useful quote when being pulled over. Thanks for another interesting video.

I appreciate you checking it out Ramsberg! If there's enough interest I can draw on my wellspring of experience and do a video on how to poorly handle interactions with the police!

@@shoetiquemusic Ha, that'd legit be hilarious, if even just a small interlude or bit in one of your future videos. I can add that one thing not to do, is to joke with your friends so much about being pulled over and slurringly saying, "Ah, hello o'ssifer." that you then accidentally do so when you're soberly pulled over. As an aside/the actual point of your video, I greatly lament that the electric guitar didn't go the way of mics and use a balanced system. For home studio stuff especially. I keep thinking about wiring up one of my guitars with an XLR jack, and running it to a mic preamp, a lot of those have unbalanced outputs that can go to an amp, however they may need a robust pad at the input for going that direction, and I'd probably not use volume or tone controls and wire the jack direct to the + - of the pickup, and then ground to the bridge.

Hi, new to making my own gear... I know this video its not about DIY 500 or FET COMPs, but could you have a time lapse DIY with some subtitles of what's most challenging or whatnot? Thanks...

Hi Phillipi, I'm currently catching up on things I've already built so I don't have anything to make a time lapse of at the moment. I'll try to keep that in mind for my next 500 series or FET comp build! I have a video on the CAPI VP28 500 Series Mic Preamp and the Hairball Audio 1176 Rev A Compressor that has details about the build process that you might find interesting! Thabks for tips. I didnt know florescent bulbs were an issue. Do you know if oxygen machines also cause RFI? My grandpa has advanced Alzheimer's and when i play for him at his home I feel like I might be hearing something

Hi Scott! Thank you for the grandpa related question. The motor inside the oxygen machine creates a magnetic field which can produce RFI. I would recommend moving the oxygen machine and your grandpa to another room. Make sure that you move them together, otherwise it may cause damage to your grandpa.

Good info... you're a saint. I make my ts cables no problem, some thanks to your video. but wanna make some trs for the front patching of my new patchbay. Any recommendations. I'm little confused with making balances TRS cables and what materials to go with for a simple, solid, TRS front patchbay cable?

I’m guessing you want something on the thinner side. Mogami makes nice stereo TT patch cable. For the plug you probably want TT (tiny telephone). Just make sure that’s what your patch bay needs. It should be wired similar to a 1/4” Trs plug. I would call up redco or switchcraft and talk to their sales reps. They’re good at pointing you in the right direction for parts selection. Let me know if there was something more specific you were looking for and I’ll try to help!

Gotham sells custom cables on their website but they’re crazy expensive! If you’re not into the DIY aspect try searching for Gotham guitar cables. There are a few different options out there.
