As a T1D I can agree with this, when you wake up at 3am low it's really hard not to eat an entire box of cereal because you feel like you're going to die 🙈 lol

I have been a type 1 diabetic for 26 years now. I am now in my early 30's. I have been training for about 4 years now. I don't miss workouts and train hard. I have struggled with muscle gain and fat loss. I can't seem to get below 14% body fat. When you say high bloodsugars make your body catabolic to muscle how high are we talking about. 150?, 200?. Also I have been struggling with joint pain and chronic inflammation. What can I do to treat this? I feel like my bloodsugars are under control. My a1c runs below 7. I will say I do get spikes periodically. I feel like a 70 year old man. I thought I had low T but when I got it tested it was 480 which my Endocrinologist says is normal. Any assistance would be really appreciated. Thank you for contributing to the diabetic community. It's cool to find someone who understands my struggles.

Hey Phil, I'm new to your work and have to show my praise however brief. Just picked your book up today btw. looking forwards to the post. Biology is my main background and I spent a lot of time ten years ago onwards trying to get myself around the restraints on the condition with the ambition to push on with some of my main passions, self defence and teaching it being one, only to have practically no information out there available as you saw, since then I've had countless problems with weight, holding myself in the worst condition I've been in over the past year with how things have played out. Breaking my hand being one challenge. But at last I'm back to normal give or take, and pushing for a better condition again.... and now, I wish I had have found your work sooner, as it's fantastic to see people with the same kind of mindset, let alone an understanding of this subject that is almost always ignored from what I've seen. Anyway bud, all the best. Keep up the great work

I am a type 1 diabetic been diagnosed since 2010 am 30years old and keep quite physical with work and also do boxing 3 days a week. It sounds a bit silly but I have always wanted a six pack but have never been able to accomplish it and always think my diabetes works against me to get it I'm 175cm tall and weigh 74.5kg. have you got any advise or guidance maybe? Thank you will be watching more of your videos.

I can't say I have this issue, my body fat % is between 6-8%, my brother who is Type 1 is the same, we both workout virtually everyday and have competed at high level in our respective sports with diabetes since we were young children. I actually have trouble maintaining weight and trouble putting it on, my A1c is 6.4%.

awesome video! I'm kind of confused tho. as a type 1 diabetic my blood sugar has been falling low often while cutting. does my blood sugar dropping have a scientific effect on my bodys ability to lose fat or does what affect fat loss is only the overconsumption of food when I am low? thanks again!
@DiabeticMuscleandFitness
@DiabeticMuscleandFitness 7 жыл бұрын
Sure it does buddy. When it drops low you will need to consume extra calories. This may keep you in an energy surplus - which makes it difficult to lose fat.

@ultradiabetic
@ultradiabetic 3 жыл бұрын
Inject in your thigh. Are you using a pen and therefore 31 or 32gage needles? I would not recommend injecting in your shoulder, I tried it once as a kid, never again. I mainly inject in my thigh and only in my stomach as last resort. DO you have a good diabetes educator to help with how to rotate injection sites?

Hyperglycemia causes a "catabolic" state? Did I misunderstand that? If hyperglycemia causes insulin to spike, wouldn't that create an "anaboliic" state in the body? As a T2 diabetic, I've always eaten 13 gummy Bears (25g glucose) post-workout (and pre-protein shake) to spike insulin and shuttle nutrients into the muscle.
@adammcgill9844
@adammcgill9844 5 жыл бұрын
Nope....a T1D cannot use the excess glucose in the bloodstream as fuel so your body breaks down fat and muscle protein as fuel since it can't do anything with all that glucose. It's very challenging to build muscle as a T1D.....
