Im also a T1D since i was 13 and had the same symptoms as Phil taking in mind that i was playing soccer and being active. The first couple of years i was under a “Honey Moon Phase” which is when your pancreas is still producing insulin. Now that im 29 it honestly gets annoying and frustrating how many times i have to inject myself im really considering getting a pump.

Hi I just bought your book ... you convinced me when you said you were an overweight kid at the gym and felt out of place but survived . I have never been to a gym in my life I always was overweight and on endless diets but i was always scared to go to the gum as everyone there is healthy and fit and perfect and then theres me .... I hope I find the courage .

It is really interesting to hear the first thing you noticed was the eyesight. Usually, my experience as well, we diabetics notice the thirst at first. For me it was the thirst and dehydration along with losing 10kgs in a week - I was 15 and playing rugby at the time. This is a very cool video because diabetics don't often get the opportunity to exchange their stories and experiences. Also your very little testing is awesomely impressive. I used to use 250 test strips a month. the cgm has saved my fingers. The peace of mind is great for my health and the control is next level. Also, I like the mixing of brands of insulin for your baseline and bolus injections

Phil you truly are the greatest inspiration for controlling my diabetes I have ever found. Not a single endo. or doctor have understood that when I play basketball or weight train my blood glucose can go from 120 to over 300 in a matter of 20 minutes while not consuming carbs but you do. I think you should involve yourself with www.reddit.com/r/diabetes_t1/ which is the biggest base of type- 1 diabetics I have found trying to cope with diabetes. I'm confident your website will be the biggest one day but for now there are so many people on there that you can help. THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE YOUR WORK!

In the nicest possible way…. I’m a bit baffled as to why you’ve referenced your daily diet so heavily at the start of this post. As type 1 diabetes and the causes for it are not diet related. With your emphasis about the breakfast and sugary tea you’d drink, this will add fuel to the fire of people Constantly mixing up type 1 and type 2 diabetes and the causes for them.
