Building self-discipline is a life-long journey. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t have the self-discipline you wish you had right away. It will take time and effort, just like the goals you’re working towards.

Realizing that self discipline is something that must be built vs thinking you're supposed to just have it and if you don't you're lazy, made me feel so much better.

Although I was doing well, especially in my career, I was always feeling that I suck at self discipline and wasn't doing enough to reach my dreams, my goals.... After the age of 30, I drastically changed my mentality. Now I'm a man of habits, and I'm proud of myself just because of it. If I've done that, you can do it too guys!

Excellent video! I just would like to comment about two things: 1. Meditation is not about clearing the mind, but about focusing the attention completely on a single thing like the breath. 2. The countdown technique works better if the countdown is shorter (starting from 5 or 3). Because if it is too long, the brain will have time to consider other options. Thank you very much for the tips

I put plenty of effort into my endeavors. My struggle is with drinking. I don't drink much but I do drink often. Even tho I'm hardly ever beyond buzzed, I'm still dependent on it and I believe it does somewhat hinder my creative abilities.

@@daveyleeriot I am SO happy to hear that brother! I can say I know someone who quit smoking almost 5 months ago and stop drinking over 2 months ago and it was seriously E.A.S.Y with the books. I do not know if audio is as effective as eye to paper but I do know that you have 100% money back guarantee on the paper books. That alone is a win. The books is about 5-10 dollars and I would consider it an investment and also money I'd save on a bottle of wine haha! Wishing you all the best! You got this!

6:01 Yes it's a great one but again 10 seconds is enough time for any lazy mind to make excuses. One better way is to do it as 3,2,1 Go. And that really works wonderfully 👍👍

depends on the person, I guess. If I counted down and didn't do what I was trying to do I feared it would eventually never work again because there would be precedents of me not doing it. So if I had to count down from 3, it was so sudden that I didn't want to risk creating a precedent where I didn't do the task and didn't even start counting down. However, with 10, it's enough time for me to not think so far ahead into it, so I don't avoid trying it. When I'm almost done with the countdown from 10 I don't want to create a precedent just like with 3, but since I already started counting down I feel like I have to follow through with it.

The thing is, you consciously or subconsciously ask yourself: "Why shouldn't I do the exercise?" - and since the brain is a problem-solving machine, it certainly finds answers in the form of feelings and unpleasant prospects that you immediately want to avoid, and then, consciously or unconsciously, a new question arises: "How can I avoid this and what can I do instead of this?" - the answer is a sofa and chips. We must not allow our habits to control our consciousness in a bad way like this, we must use our ability as consciousness to concentrate, making our brain think and imagine in order to direct our thoughts, and, as a result, our actions. This is often referred to as willpower. In general, all you need to know is: what is willpower and how it works, what are habits and how they work, how and what habits we will oppress or support.
