the extra hose/valve to reduce flow by sending water back to the reservoir is a good idea. I have used this before and it works.

Hi Brian, thanks for replying. May I ask about the pipe diameter you are using? I plan to grow lettuce similar to this setup.

@@francisdiocton8052 thank you for watching and commenting, I’m using 90mm uPVC storm water vent pipe. It is a common and inexpensive pipe size here for storm water transfer.

Thanks for replying. I'll try to see if we have similar pipes here in the Philippines. I'm growing fish and I want to pump the water in the fish tank to a system such as this one.

@@francisdiocton8052 look for Rafael Pagaling there in the Philippines. He has Zennor Farm there, hydroponics. He should be able to guide you.

Hi Brian, great design and I’m planning to have a shot at this. Would you tell me what size pots you have used here? Also the drill bore diameter. I couldn’t see it in the video. Cheers..
@hydroponicsbybrianbullock2488 Жыл бұрын
3” (75mm) net pots . I drill the holes with a 73mm holesaw. The holesaw is in a down light kit from the hardware ( Bunnings).

hey mate, do you think you could get away with closing the 90mm ends and using a 19mm tub outlet towards the top to help with keeping a reservoir in the pipe as an alternative to the glued half cut plastic siliconed within the pvc pipes?
@hydroponicsbybrianbullock248810 ай бұрын
You certainly could do it that way, and many people do it like that.

How do you control the water level inside the pipes? I couldn't see that you set a height for it to begin to return. Also, how often do you cycle water through and does any water stay in the pipes while it's not pumping? Or do they fully drain?
@hydroponicsbybrianbullock24882 жыл бұрын
The plastic quarter moons glued into the end of the pipe keep the nutrient solution level with the bottom of the net pots at all times. The system runs 24/7.

A complete 24 plant system with stand, net pots, reservoir, new pump and fertiliser $400.00 at this point in time.

Hi Brian, thanks for taking the time to create and share videos for us 🙏 Does either this horizontal system or your vertical system have to be on a slight angle for the water to flow back to reservoir?
@hydroponicsbybrianbullock2488 Жыл бұрын
No, I make the pipes level. Only needs a tiny fall, or none at all as the water will find its own level, and flow back to the reservoir.
