NFT stands for Nutrient film technique. Key word in that is "film" the roots shouldn't be standing in water but more like being kept moist by only a small amount of water on the bottom of the pipe and the roots can also breathe from the roots on top. If they are submerged in water the will suffer from "Pythium" which is mistaken for root rot because of the low oxygen environment

What is the clay stones used for on top of the water tank. very nice setup

Hey mate, it is an aquaponics setup, the clay balls act as soil media to give the plant roots something to grow in and the tank below with fish in it supplies nutrition, check it out in one of my other videos, thanks for watching

Very neat work, however did you consider the potential lead leakage from that type of 90mm U-PVC pipes? They are definitely cheap, I have been considering whether or not to use them, or source some food grade plastic pipes.

Tomato and pepper plants are best grown using the cracky system or self watering flood and drain systems

Thanks, appreciate the feedback, you could absolutely start them off in this setup and move them to a flood and drain system where they have a bit more room to grow, I have had great success with lettuce in this setup
