How to Build the Best Roundabout in Cities: Skylines 2 | This eats traffic!

Today I'm showing you how you can build the best roundabout in Cities: Skylines 2.
The roundabout will have 4 directions, slip lanes on every side and use the new road mechanics, as well as some mods to enhance game experience

If you separate the lanes a bit where the road connects to oncoming/outgoing traffic you could probably fit tunnels that go straight across.

It is, the mods are only used for decorational purposes, so if you want to use mods with it, wait 3 days.

It is possible in Vanilla. CS2 has its own "anarchy" in the base game using Dev Mode. I've used it quite a lot in my city to create roads and stuff very close to each other. Surface painter is also in Vanilla but also behind dev mode. A lot of the mods I've noticed just make things hidden in Dev mode easier to access with new menus etc

I'm loving what I saw from new mods and can't wait to use them. I've also seen that they are somewhat better than ones in CS1. Combining that with the phenomenal road tool we already have (not counting the tunnels ofc xD), I think the future of traffic in CS2 is looking very bright ^_^

I feel the AI needs improving before any style of intersection will work properly. Unfortunately the AI is just... I don't even know how to describe it. Its like every person in the city took acid in the morning, decided to go on the road and just goes ham. I've seen semi trucks just stop in the road waiting for an entrance to clear because it was technically a shorter distance but there was a perfectly good exit not a mile ahead that had no traffic and would technically be faster by comparison (or just as fast). I just wish AI would look behind them, go "Hm I'm holding up traffic, lets move on and find a different place to turn" at a minimum. Or even a basic, "Huh, this lane is backed up, but there's a perfectly good lane right next to me that's free, let's move over." EDIT: I dunno about you but I tend to have the philosophy "bad drivers never miss their turn."

it actually works, sure sometimes it clogs up but most of the time its fine, before i had a normal roundabout which was full of traffic but now there is barely any

Looks great. Wish we had TMPE in this so I could make a super optimized traffic light setup for this (yes, roundabouts benefit from traffic lights, tons of irl examples) Also the ai is pretty stupid, they changed the always sticking to one lane in CS1 to changing lane at the last moment in CS2…

@@Skibidy_rizzler_ Yes and no, it all depends on the road hierarchy. When he had two lanes going into three, the two lane roads yielded. But after he changed them and the roads where equal the traffic on the roundabout started to yield instead.

looks very nice. but it doesn´t work with my game. Why are the boxes for the zones evenly distributed along the roadsides? in your game? I always have gaps on the side of the road in my game.

Since this isn't an official roundabout, doesn't that violate the traffic priority rules of roundabouts and thus could lead to deadlocks with heavy traffic?

The thing that often annoys me is the lane width being so drastically different between highways and main roads. Not to mention the yield/give way function on roundabouts favouring vehicles entering the roundabout, not those exiting.

A shame you need paradox mods, which is released in 3 days at the time of commenting + watching. You only need the mods for decorational purposes though, so luckily it's still very POSSIBLE in vanilla CS2

The roundabouts in CS2 are a mess. They shape weirdly when connecting roads and create stupidly sharp turns. This is exactly how bigger roundabouts look in reality. An inner circle with the lanes melding in and out. Great!

It's a shame the driver's IA will force them most of the time to choose the main lane to turn to the right instead of choosing the auxiliary one. You can clealy see it in this video. For me driver's IA is the worst thing that ruins everything in this game.

mods here are only used for aesthetic purposes. this could easily be done in vanilla CS2 it would just look less realistic, because the roads would need to be further apart because of anarchy.
