How to Build TMR Ultimate Trailing Arms

I wanted to make this video to show how I put my TMR Customs trailing arms together and how you should NOT do it the way I did. This concept can be applied to most any trailing arm build.

unless you put a temporary counter truss on the opposite side before welding it's going to bow ! stitch welding of the plates can be performed on the outside first, then move to the inner side to prevent some of the inside pinching of the shock mount channel. make good 1/4 inch tacks with the mid ! great video !

I'm a heavy equipment welder and I always tell people who critique their welds when I cut apart loader buckets to rebuild them with thicker ar plate the bird crap booger Welds that have been holding this thing together for the last 7 years or so did a great job and yours look nowhere near the crap that I've seen so I think your doing great

Thanks. Since welding these arms up, I have realized a HUGE problem I was having was visibility. I have since gotten an Esab A50 Sentinel helmet and can now actually seeing what I am doing!

Just a thought. When I make my shock spacers for welding I make them .015” wider than the shock mounting width. But I make them as big as I can on the OD. I think this helps to keep the plate more parallel when welding than having a small od like your spacers. I just built a bomber fab chassis and all my link pivots and shock mounting locations slide together perfect after welding with just adding .015” extra. Maybe something to try in the future.

Question to help the algorithm…did you talk to tmr or anyone else about how they keep them from bowing?

Thanks for the algorithm boost! I did talk to TMR about the warping and they said even in a fixture it is hard to avoid. They said welding slower is the best fix.
