Hi, did you ever struggle with mental health issues like anxiety and depression during the beginning of your career? Because i do have those problems and it’s been on and off since I started. My confidence really drained but this video actually answered a lot of my problems and I really appreciate you for that. I just wanted to know if it’ll get easier cuz I’m literally a first year stylist.

I soo needed this! I’ll be graduating from cos school soon and I am definitely a “doormat” type of person and highly critical of myself so I am absolutely prone to letting people take advantage and I’m glad others can relate and have overcome it! This was such an encouragement to me, great message🤍

Thank you for this video Jess. I became a stylist in 1988, I got out of it because of confidence problems and working in Toxic salons. I'm much older now, and am ready to continue my passion for doing hair and making people feel beautiful! You tips really helped me. I will remember them as I go forward! Thanks Again! - April

I couldn’t agree with this more! I’ve been doing hair for 3 years. It was not as easy as I thought it would be at first. These are all things I have struggled with and learned over time. I still criticize my own work and I’m still always learning.

Yesterday was my first day at my first salon and it was terrifying. But by the end of the day I couldn’t have been happier ❤️

This is so nice to hear, I recently no longer have a salon home due to COVID-19 and workplace bullying so this makes me feel better. I totally appreciate you being up front and honest that our industry can be so difficult!

At my first salon job, I was bullied and it was really rough. I noticed as soon as I left that work environment how much more confident I was and how much I grew! I wish you the best of luck finding a good salon! It can be tough, but you’ll find one!

I totally needed this. Last week I had a client flip out on me because I was "to new". Mind you I never even cut it, all I did was part it. It rattled my confidence for a few days.

Sorry that has happened to you! I recently had a hair cut appointment at my school and the client looked all worried when I was cutting her hair, especially since she's getting married this fall. That makes me a little upset because she went to a school where everyone is learning and then acted like she was worried and that I didn't know what I was doing. I get it could be scary but if you go into a school you have to mentally prepare for anything. I find it hard to build my cofidence when clients act like I have no idea what I'm doing.

Needed these reminders today Jessi! I've been doing hair for 14yrs, returned to it full time 3yrs ago after a 5yr break, just opened my tiny 1 chair salon...in a pandemic no doubt...and I have just struggled to find my footing! Being OCD & extremely critical of my work doesn't LOL. BTW...you look great & hope you're enjoying your sweet boy 💙
