Be the speaker at the event, so people come up to you after you speak.

Thank god networking is a thing lol. I don’t think I could’ve gotten a job without it. I really stepped on the gas when COVID first started and managed to get two internships through networking with alumni and other people I felt could help. Just got a full time offer from one of the big brokerage firms in NYC because someone in my network passed my resume on to someone he knew there. I just sent out cold emails and set up calls or coffee chats with people. From there I was persistent (not annoying) in following up and offering updates along the way. Fairly simple strategy that worked a lot better than I thought. Great video as always.

Way to be, Azaz! Your story is a great example of what people can do when they dedicate themselves to building their network. Congrats on putting yourself in a position to make these opportunities a reality!

Great video. I'm an introvert and networking is very difficult for me but I've been getting better at it. Have a few questions in mind that you can ask anyone. People love talking about themselves and it makes them feel good. And the most important thing to remember when it comes to these events is that these people are all there for the same thing. Their love of real estate.

Hey there, what do you think about Loan Management field as a way of breaking into CRE? Do they use financial models? Any type of feed back would be appreciated.

Hey Sean, "loan management" can encompass quite a few different job responsibilities, but generally the financial modeling and analysis doesn't tend to be as rigorous in these roles as it is in an acquisitions/asset management/portfolio management role. If your goal is to break into traditional CRE private equity or brokerage, these roles usually won't be an optimal path to getting there. Good luck!

I love the content. I am going through your Udemy courses currently. What would you say are the most selective/ prestigious commercial real estate positions for soon to be college graduates? Analyst positions at CBRE, JLL, or Cushman?
