550 hours played on ACC and man... This looks like sourcery but man... it's not that it "works", it's like day and night on F296. It's not about shaving time, it's about the car finally doing what you tell her to do and being predictable. This is the best stable, neutral setup I've ever driven on this sim so far. At thinking it works on all tracks it mind blowing. Thank you man, you deserved my tip

I would say this is basically a soldi base to start building a specific setup. I don’t agree on the brake bias, steer ratio and rear height. BB should be much close to 50, unless you’re driving Aston or similar. And steer ratio it’s very important to differentiate it car by car. Rear height should be set up from the value you have at aggressive setup and for each click you increase downforce you should rise up the car by 2mm. This is something that works for every car. I appreciate the video for all the other things.

This was really frustrating... Tried you're preset now on Nissan GT3, got my time from 2:18 to 2:06!!! Counldn't believe that just a simple preset can make such difference. I commented already on this but I'm back to say this is the best setup video I've ever seen. Main the Porsche and have struggled with the 992 since 1.9. With the tips in this video the car is transformed, transformed into an absolute beast. It turns, its responsive, its agile, it eats kerbs for breakfast and its fast. Gives me a lot more confidence to push. PB at Imola, on LFM, two wins today in split 2 and 3 or 4 podiums. Thank you Arnout. Note - I tame it a little for races, whats shown in the video is fine for quali but you need to tone it down a little for race or your tires will be toast after ten mins. Also, up the TC a click or two.
@SimracingArnout Жыл бұрын
Well i hit a podium as well in split 2 this week so i made myself a new competitor haha good stuff man! I when i came up with the preset i decided to make this video after testing it on the porche then i knew i was on to something, btw hopefully a new patch will keep this method alive lol. Can you explain what you mean with taming the car? What do you change to preseve your tires? Greetz
@Paolo264 Жыл бұрын
@@SimracingArnout For a race I make some very minor changes which helped a lot for preserving tires, this is specific to the 992 (I don't drive anything else): 1. Reduce front camber to 3.7 2. Reduce rear camber to 3.2 3. Rear toe set to 0.1 4. Increase TC to 6 (personal preference for me, TC2 at 0) 5. Increase front wheel rate by another two clicks 6. Increase rear wheel rate by one more click 7. BB set to 48.6 (I personally run as low as possible brake bias because its the Porsche) 8. Rear ride height at 64, front ride height at 59 9. Rear wing 12 This is specific to Imola btw but with changes to ride height it should work anywhere. Tires no longer toast at end of race while others are spinning all over the place.
@SimracingArnout Жыл бұрын
Allright so the camber and toe changes makes you feel the tires are more sustaining then? I sometimes struggle with a bit of wear sometimes i dont. Defenitly gonna try this out.. thanx!
@Paolo264 Жыл бұрын
@@SimracingArnout Yeah, it seems to work for me. Tire wear not so bad. I see others driving on glass in the last 5 mins of a sprint race where I'm ok to push a little. But not too much. TC at 6 helps also.

For different reasons I decided not to go further with my ACC Blancpain championship. I decided instead to apply your method to the BMW M4 GT3 on all tracks. Just your Base setup proposal on all tracks. My conclusion is that for my driving it works very well. I am not quick, but the car is a joy to drive on every track, with a lot of consistency. Very good balance. I can place the car easily , very stable, no problems on the curbs. No problem at all, except on Suzuka. For a reason I can not explain, the BMW is behaving like on ice on this track , understeer everywhere , and so on. It is like this track has another grip level as all the other tracks in ACC. After that, i am currently applying your method to the Mc Laren 720S evo. I have currently only made two tracks, Paul ricard and Brands hatch. Again the car is fun and easy to drive, very forgiving. I enjoy it a lot. For a reason I can not explain, I am about 2" per lap quicker with this car on both tracks. Maybe it is that my driving is more adapted to rear/central engine as front engine ? Maybe is the gear box more adpated to my driving style ? I currently don't know the reasons of this difference, i will see if I can confirm that on other track or not. The fact is that the Mc Laren is a lot quicker. I will update this when I will have completed your Method on all tracks for the Mc Laren 720 evo

HOLY SHIT! I tried it on the lambo evo, and even without adjustment, I started setting new records instantly... and while I didn't shave off as much time as others in the comments (I'm still not that familiar with the tracks and the lines as a beginner), my consistency went through the roof. After every lap, it was much easier to gain time with adjustments to my driving, since I didn't have to fight the car at all and I only had problems when I started braking to late or too early, but the car was suddenly doing exactly what I wanted it too. The only deviation I took was setting the brake bias to 52% as someone else suggested.

I'm very new to ACC but have some real world experience with setup. Lift off oversteer is caused by a drastic weight shift to the front axle. in the real world is most commonly controlled with spring weight. Fwd guys will put stiffer springs in the rear to actually encourage this, as it's harder to rotate / slip a fwd car. So a few things you could try, in order of preference: 1. increase front spring weight 2. as he suggests in the video, play with the bump stop range. try give the front less range 3. decrease rear swaybar stiffness 4. decrease rear rebound damping. Try just one change at a time. Let me know if any of that helps, and good luck!

Very nice video. In order to apply your method, i decided to make an ACC blancpain championship with the old bentley, starting from zero regarding setup. I am not that quick, but what I immediatelty could see is the improvment in consistency. I use the small widget in ACC, and I am able to align easily many laps in a row at zolder (first race of the championship) with all sectors in green regarding consistency. It means that I have a stable control of the car, and that about every lap is the same at every place on the track , and that lap after lap. It is the basis of improvment. I will do the first race (45 min), analyse the results, and then have some changes (your second video), and see if I can improve on the overall performance (currently stable 1:31.1 on zolder with this bentley 2015 ). I got into sim racing about 8 months ago. Unfortunately, I got a ps5 instead of a gaming pc, didn't spring for monza or fanatec wheel base either. So the logitech is limited. But your advice helped tremendously, and I just wanted to thank you! The struggle has been real.

Its not really necessary to do the min/mac setting on the front damping. On almost every car I use a more traditional front Damping and the min/max damping on the rear! The min/max damping in the rear isnt technically about being faster, its more about tire wear! For example i used Stock front damping on the McLaren, BMW, AMG and the min/max damping on the rear at Laguna last week. All 3 vehicles were averaging 1:22.3/4 lap times I also find some cars like the McLaren i use 11/10 anti roll and with the AMG ill use lower values like 3/4 or even 2/3. The super fast guys like the top eSports guys create very fast but loose set ups! With a few adjustments you can make very quick yet stable set ups like using a more traditional damping on the front! The Ferrari is also different then most other cars when it comes to 2400 on the rear and lower bump stops. On many cars i found increasing the front Bump stop up to 8-18 and the rear down to 25-16 helps make the car much more stable on corner entry.. Wheel rates yes use the low or 1 click up! Or 1 click up and minimum on rear for some cars! Theres lots of ways one can be quick and even fast but many of the exploits help drastically with tire wear. Esp rear tire wear! Using the min/max damping on the rear helps keep the rear tires from wearing out. Many times my fastest lap times are my last 2 or 3 laps meaning ive lost very little or no rear grip as the tire wears down.. While you can still be very fast using a motec dialed in rear damper your rear tires tend to wear out after 10-12 laps

I have 200+ hours in Spa and every time I do a change in my pedals, steering wheel, etc I use this track as a benchmark. I can lap consistently close to my track record (2:18:1xx) and find if something is working for me or not. After 10 laps or so, I couldn't find a significant difference in my lap times. Maybe it works best for pros and I'm not at the level to extract the extra performance in it, though.
@SimracingArnout Жыл бұрын
Well! It works really well for more beginners i think! No matter the setup 2,18 on spa and faster your looking a serious skill level. If your driving 2,18 on spa you kinda know what you want from your car and setup i think
