Really helpfull! Thanks for sharing. I also got into pottery lately and currently researching some ideas to make my own kiln. Your video helps. Also, it's always lovely to see young teenage girls love pottery and making them.

Really cool project. Now that you've been using it for a bit, is there anything you'd change about the design?

Actually yes. I think the most important thing is it would need to be firebrick or be able to keep in the heat a bit better. The rounded top works well but because the heat escapes over time it is hard to make the temp rise. Thanks for the comment!

@@katieinhaiti1994 Thanks for the feedback. I'd love to do a build like this at some point out on my homestead property.

I saw a film of a hobby kilner who had built a small easy brick kiln for testing and she used an electric fan, the kind we use in our house that has different speed. That increased the heat a lot. I myself have tried something similar but used an old f bellow and got the temp up to 1100 C . Since the glaze with temp 1100 melted partially atlest. Adding wind/draft have it´s effect.

The old bellow is a great idea. We actually did try an electric fan and it increased the temp. by a few hundred degrees but still not enough for the glaze to properly melt. We tried several more methods as well that are not shown in the video. Oil dripping, fanning, tried many different kinds of wood but just could not get it up there. Thanks for your comment!
