How to Bunny Hop

This is my simple guide on how to bhop. It might not be the best tutorial because you can only do so much with just text, but I feel like I explained it the best I can.
Bhopping is a speedrunning technique in source, goldsource, and even quake based games. It's used to gain massive amounts of speed. The best game to practice bhopping, or to bhop, in general, is half-life. Quake was the game to introduce bhopping and since the goldsource engine is based on it, bhopping remained. Today, Bhopping can still be seen in half-life 2, counter strike source, and counter strike global offensive.

Crossfire had a nice bhop; As a ghost, you become visible if you move BUT if you jump and walk backwards (faster than forwards) you essentially move the most time in air and therefore don't get visible at all! Oh and if you mastered it, you were really blazing fast! Of course, you have to jump perfectly and sometimes you had to look around for your enemies but HEY that was my first bhop ♥

To work on Mouse wheel going down and up (If you want both sides) then use this command: Bind mwheelup +jump; bind mwheeldown +jump There you have it, you can use both the up of mouse wheel and down. Hope this helps :)

@@glathir3574 I hit forwards before my first jump and then only use strafe -- if you continue using strafe it retains and builds on your forwards momentum. Also make sure to `bxt_autojump 1` and `bxt_bhopcap 0`

Also, try looking with right and left arrows if it's hard for you to maintain camera rotation for the whole jump because you, for example, have high mouse sensitivity

I have learned how to bhop pretty well in Quake. I was just wondering if Source had a power-bhop mechanic, and it seems that it doesn't. Power-bhop is just pressing forward button when you land to lose less velocity.

In team fortress classic we use a script that spams jump key about five times each time you hit jump key. This allows you to time the jump easy. It doesn't let you hold down jump key and it keeps jumping though. Is there a similar script for hl? I've been looking for years. If so how do I install it compared to tfc? Which cfg and in what file? Thanks! I like your channel! Edit: in tfc we train noobs to use low gravity setting to help get a feel for the air control / strafe

No, nothing similar that I'm aware of, there are only scripts that constantly spam jump. But I feel like since tfc and half life are very similar, that script you used in tfc should still work on half life since they use the same engine.

type bind mwheeldown +jump then after that type: bind mwheelup +jump you will be able to just scroll your mouse any direction and jump

i've found a good way to get good at getting the strafing movements are to lower the gravity a bit and just work on the movement keys and mouse so that becomes comfortable and can be done by muscle memory. or another way you can do it is sv_friction 0 and not jump at all but use the movement as if you where airborne. good luck

I have a question, how tf can everyone scroll so fast without their fingers dying in 1 minute? When I try it it's one of these always happen: A. My fingers get too tired from scrolling so fast B. I decide to scroll slower since it's tiring my fingers, but that causes my bhop timings to mess up 50% of the time C. I decide to scroll fast only when I'm about to land, but I don't always do it on time AND sometimes the B happens in this one even if I'm scrolling fast And btw, how do you bind the mwheeldown back to the default bind?

It's all about practice. Try scrolling a little before you hit the ground, that could possibly work. In the console just type "unbind mwheeldown", them bind it to whatever it was in the settings

you also need to have a really good pc to get more frames as many things in half life 1 is fps depended (even how much speed you get from a strafe which is how you build up speed) which is probab why in the beginning he was able to get 600 in right off the bat combined with good strafing and bunny hops

Once you get good enough, 544 isn't gonna be enough, so at that point you'll need BunnymodXT, which will let you get rid of that speed cap. And yes you need half life on steam to get the package.

It's a speedometer you can enable if you have BunnymodXT installed. It basically just shows you your player speed.
