I have a space in my living room that is 12x10 and ceiling through out is 7.75 foot ceiling - MCM/boho interior with lots of plants. I saw a shell chandelier that I am in love with. It has a 30”D but my tallest furniture in the room is 25”H sofa. Wondering if I can pull it off with two 80x44 floor mirrors located about 7 feet away from the sitting area.

Hi - yes, that's correct, this tip would apply to dining room tables as well. Remember that the hang height can vary depending on the design, but this holds true in most cases. Thank you for your question!

Depends on the room layout! For a dining room, it's best to measure the entire room. however, if your home uses an open concept layout that merges a dining room with a living room, or something else, then its good to measure just around what would be the dining room.

The height above the table will probably be the same. If you are looking to have the chandelier not over a table then look for a style that can be hung so you don't hit your head when you walk under it.

If hanging from ceiling (and not over a table) multiply the ceiling height (ft) x 3. Example 8' ceiling x 3 = 24. The right height for this fixture (not including the hang chain) is 24". So, using info in this video with the info I have added, another example....a chandelier 40"W x 36"H would be right size for a large room 20' x 20' with 12' ceiling. This fixture should be hung a minimum of 7' above the floor. With a large fixture like this, 8' or more above the floor would probably work better.
