I think that people are much too narrow in the range of watches they consider. Yesterday’s dogs are tomorrow’s winners at the horological race track. Because of distribution issues or the collapse of distributors, there were a slew of Parmigiani, Moser and Speake-Marin watches available at deep discounts for anyone who could look beyond the usual suspects. Moser is turning super strong, Parmigiani is firming up nicely and only Sowake-Marin references still seem somewhat available NOS. The recent failure of Romain Jerome brought some interesting watches to Shopworn. As with any type of product close out, you may not find something that suits all of the items on your checklist but when you do it is a pleasant experience. There are still so many great under the radar buys even if you want to work on a modest budget. In the world timer/GMT category, Vogard watches are available NOS for very little. I bought mine for $1800 and despite its lack of an in-house movement it is as fine a watch as I own and beautifully crafted with a bezel controlled world timer function engineered by Thomas Prescher. This was an $8000 premium watch in 2008. Schwartz Etienne chronographs and other watches go for small sums. Like Jaeger LeCoultre on a smaller scale, they are a watchmaker’s watchmaker. Kari Voutilainen just did the Roma Synergy with them and their movements are being used in some other premium watches. One can still pick up a Schwartz Etienne branded watch for a small price with a serious movement and real quality of manufacture. Great video as always.

Good advice. I also find varying your search terms can work as can wading through unfiltered brand inventory - always amazed that people wrongly classify their watches on sale sites. I've also noticed that a lot of ADs (and this may be particular to the UK) are struggling to sell 'dress' watches. They often have inventory of classic dress watches that they're desperate to shift (especially now, in lockdown). This can apply to many brands - I've snagged some great JLC deals this way (typically +/- 5 year old refs, cheaper than 2nd hand on Chrono 24), but I've also noticed some great prices for Parmigiani. It's worth just searching through dealer stock and then making them an offer, but you do have to wade though a lot of 45mm blue ceramic Omegas!

Hey Prose! Both of those are fighting way above their weight and cost well below it, but some models are staying close to their MSRP. Thank you very much for your videos. In my opinion the problem with surfing the Internet looking for watches is that the risk of buying a fake watch increases. I've always thought that the premium we pay buying from shops at chromo 24 is the insurance to pull off that risk

Yes, Sinuhe, there's always that risk, and I must admit, that I've got some of my best deals by buying directly from strangers-but I've been lucky. It's not so much fakes that worry me as it is getting totally ripped off. Chron24 provides excellent protection by having the purchases go through escrow, and so if a fake watch is sent, the buyer can get his money back by telling Chrono24. Now, unless I know the seller, I no longer make direct wire payment. Take care and be safe, Bill😷

Very interesting video Bill 👍 Since you have mentioned the Patek Philippe Gondolo in the video, for me it is a big mistery how a "date only" steel Patek Nautilus is priced the double of a gold Gondolo with annual calendar and monphase complications, at least on the secondary market... Great one Bill! There were two particular watches that I fancied for many years and eventually aquired both. They were both pre owned when I managed to get them at what I thought were fair prices, but its amazing how in the few years since they have both started to increase in price. Their value to me hasn't changed as they were what I always wanted. Keep looking and keep saving and your grails can be aquired.

sorry to say but I'm sure the 65K ressonance is a scam. There can be differences but when the price is half of what it should be ... I'm 100% sure this is fraud. You don't find a rolex daytona steel for 12K and you don't find that Journe for 65K.

Just because something doesn't follow what you're used to seeing, doesn't mean that it's bogus. It may be, but a more likely scenario is where that "standard" price is asked is a scam watch. When performing watch searches on the internet, google presented me frequently "Hush Hush" results. However, judging from the short preview on the google results list, I sistematically skipped those results fearing some kind of fraud or even a malware attack... That's just my behaviour and since I have not looked for a comprehensive explanation, I am not in the position to give any advice.
