This guy looks stressed. That's a telltale sign of a rotary engine owner lol
@crazycompilations52148 жыл бұрын
I'm a rotary guy and everything you said was good except after asking all those questions you will still get sold a lemon. Only way to know the TRUTH about what condition the engine is in is a compression test. I've had engines that start every time run like a dream but just don't make power due to low compression. And eventually the engine will fail to start when hot due to low compression. Rotary engines are all about compression. More compression more power. Compression compression compression And the rule is really whenever you get a new engine you rebuilt it period.

Well when I got my rx7 the guy took took me for a test drive. We went 140kmph on bald summer tires in the middle of a freezing rain/snow storm in Canada. You have to be pretty faithful in the engine to do something like that haha so now its in my garage.

How do you know if the Omp pump goes bad? What are the signs the previous owner could notice?
@marshalmcbride27538 жыл бұрын
You really won't unless you take it apart. However, if you premix you should be fine even if it does go bad. Just premix every fill up.
@blyndrotor7 жыл бұрын
retrotellephone Look up testing omp on rotary. That will tell you how. Fairly simple really even if you only have a basic knowledge of how to swing a spanner.
@zeus0147 жыл бұрын
What Marshall said. No way of knowing without dis-assembling the OMP and checking the lobes for wear. But even with the pump working as designed the apex seals do not receive adequate lubrication, especially with fuel-injected Mazda rotaries. Using pre-mix in the proper ratio is really the only way to insure the apex seals get adequate and uniform lubrication. So why didn't Mazda do this in the first place, you ask? Because they knew that telling new and non-mechanically-inclined potential owners that they have to pre-mix would not only cost them sales, but in the (very likely) event that said owners would fail to follow the pre-mix directive (or mix a too-lean ratio) the engines would have the life expectancy of a Taylor Swift relationship - and that MAZDA would end up having to give negligent owners the benefit of the doubt and replace thousands of engines for free and then STILL lose a large portion of their consumer base. The metering system was a compromise, one that for the most part worked: at 80K to 120K miles before apex seal failure the rotary's lifespan was comparable to most of the competition's piston engines produced back in that era.

ExplicitC The benefit of premix is that you get superior lubrication over the factory setup. Plus if your omp fails you won't know until A. You test your omp. Not hard. B. The engine fails. Hard When you premix which isn't hard if you're getting fuel, you're getting lube. Just search the benefits of premix.

Mark Rogers So it's an oil metering pump pump. I noticed that to. Just like an atm machine is an automatic teller machine machine.
@azztheboy4 жыл бұрын
The metering pump basically draws oil out of your oil pan and squirts into the motor to lube the apex and side seals. You can disable it and use premix - add an ounce 2 stroke oil per fill. Over time the metering pump will drain your engine oil suply - worse - if its not working your seals will wear out.
