No. To fill out the form, you need to write down what item your purchased and details such as the serial number. Not to mention every time you want a new suppressor you have to submit a new Form 4, so it's not like a one-time approval.

PJ Jackson I went through it . The way where I got it you collect and send them the required information asked for via email. Then I had to wait about 3 weeks to hear back from them to come in and fill out the NFA PAPERWORK and fingerprints. They then gave me 2 envelopes for me to send off. One to the ATF in Portland the other to my local chief Leo. So you send those off and if you chose to pay with a card which I recommend because as soon as you see that the $200 tax stamp transaction on your account.. From that moment on the clock starts ticking. I’m about 4 months in now and still waiting to get the call to pick up

So in the meantime I'm sitting on a good $700 or more between the stamp fee and the price of the silencer. ------------- This is the exact reason why I won't buy a silencer! You have to wait for the gunship to connect your in store purchase with your silencer shop account which can take a few weeks and then SilencerShop sends you a document to sign then you have to go back to the gun stop to certify and submit your paperwork electronically.

The reason for the Trust owning the suppressor back in the day was so law enforcement was not allowed to freely enter my property w/o a warrant in order to check if my suppressor was on the gun I told them it was going on when I bought it. I'm not sure today how the laws are written or if you need to worry about protecting your civil rights in the same way...I need to check into this more.

It's a couple hundred dollars extra to start but saves a ton in headaches currently.

@@MichaelDavis-uu9zh yeah, theyre registered to you, not the weapon. If its your first can I'd recommend a multi caliber, like the griffin armament optimus i believe it is. Comes with a piston booster so you can run it on a handgun aswell. But there are tons of others from different companies. Check out the military arms channel, he's got a bunch of great info to help you decide which you want. Hope this helps.

The reason you want to use a trust is if you and your wife both want to use the silencer when you are not with each other, that would be a problem if the silencer was not owned by the trust. Of course, you and your wife both would be the trustee of the trust. So, does it take longer, yes! But if you and your wife share it, and are not always together, it's totally worth it. Problem with making the process easier for people is that more people will go and buy suppressors, which means more paperwork for atf and fbi to go through, which means longer wait times. Currently on my 17th month, yes 17th month using a trust. Absolutely ridiculous.

It is ridiculous. But the problem isn't making the process easier, it's that there shouldn't be a process to begin with. As far as I'm concerned, the more people buying suppressors the better as they're a legitimate and helpful firearm accessory. The whole philosophy behind the government's restrictions on suppressors sickens me. I figure it's a money maker for them, but it can't be that big for them, in comparison with the amount of administration that has to take place with each new purchase. That leaves only one reason why they go the whole NFA route. Control. And that sickens me. Let's be honest. These are NOT silencers. They silence NOTHING. The average dB loss is not that substantial unless you combine them with subsonic ammo, or use a small caliber weapon like a rimfire. And I couldn't tell you the last time I saw where a suppressor was used in a murder. Unless it was on TV, of course. I could state all the reasons why the NFA ruling on suppressors is ridiculous, but anyone familiar with the situation already knows them. I would own at least two different suppressors if they 'legalized' them, but the whole idea behind the NFA and the trust involved is beyond ridiculous. The FBI already has my prints from my clearance in the service, and I have no record, so why must I go thru all the BS to own one? Control.
