If you're looking around for a BB pistol I would recommend this one kzbin.infoUgkxnX9wE_Q8zvF75Y5iWzTU3Q4FlrtyGApQ . I ordered two BB pistols from Dan Wesson and this one is so much nicer than the other one. It's a well built gun. Can't say that about the other one. I thought the Mag was pretty easy to load. I also just lock the spring back and fill up the hole with 16 BB's with no sweat. Easily remove the rear part of the handle from the bottom with the Mag removed to access the CO2 chamber. Sweet. Very nice painted sights on both ends. Doesn't have blowback but the gun is rated at 410 fps the blowback edition is 365 fps.Didn't really know much about BB guns before but now I see that Umarex makes some fine BB guns. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer CO2 air pistol than this one I think. Just seems flawless. It even states on the packaging Glock perfection. I think my next Airgun may very well be an Umerex. Oh and if you really want a blowback (don't think amazon sells the Glock w/blowback) you might consider the Beretta APX by Umarex. But that gun is only rated at 310 fps. All things being equal, if it were me I'd buy the Glock again in a heartbeat :)

If suppressors add or decrease accuracy is a much more complex question than ‘yes or no’ can answer. A point of impact shift is almost guaranteed. Barrel harmonics & bullet design are major factors to if you’re adding or subtracting from your weapon’s accuracy.

Well that would be true, if they are subsonic. Not so much affect on supersonic. Lighter bullet, such as, the .22 lr will have a deviation track of about 1 inch at 25 yards. Now on a .45ACP it would hardly matter at any of the effective ranges because it wont travel to rifle ranges. I agree to a point, but try not to generalize all suppressors into one group.

TK-2M4 Centerfire Rifle cans, like 5.56 sort of self clean, they get a gray ash build up about the thickness of construction paper and that's it from then on. Tests show even after 100s of rimfire rounds and it gets all dirty, shooting a few mags of 5.56 will break up and clean it back out. Now pistol cans are not the same, 9mm will need cleaning as it just doesn't have the pressures as like the 5.56 Hope this helps.

Here in the UK suppressors are free 'will issue' add ons to our firearms certificate. 'Hearing safe levels' are a little misleading, the supersonic crack which no suppressor can eliminate is still around 130db although its duration is much shorter. Yes the boom has gone but whilst it is not uncomfortable to shoot occasional rounds without hearing protection it is not long term/frequent exposure harmless.

It's sad because when this video was made, I believe bump-stocks were still legal. I think the concept of taking bump-stocks is dumb because you can hip-fire a rifle all to hell and still get the same effect if you fire it correctly. On a side note, I know a man who came into a pile of money once and decided to increase his gun collection. So he went down to his local gun store where he'd done business for several years and talked it over with the guy who owned the store and they struck a deal on the guns he wanted to buy. I might add it was a rather large purchase, however in this state you can buy large amounts of guns with the correct paperwork and taxes paid. Just like what this fellow is saying about the suppressors. So the guns come in a few at a time, different companies, different deliveries, plus ammo and a few other gun related products. The guy bought like $30K dollars worth of guns at one time and then was looking to spend about the same amount again when the nice people at the ATF showed up and wanted to speak with him. He hadn't broken any laws and all his paperwork was correct, they just wanted to be sure, A he had a safe place to store them and B he wasn't reselling them or sending them to others who couldn't buy guns. Anyway, he checked out and all was good, but he said when he answered the door and the guys identified themselves as ATF agents his first words were, "Ok, let me call my attorney first." They told him that was fine if he'd feel better with his attorney." They told him the only thing they was a red flag was the shear number of guns he'd bought at once by a single person. Once he showed them where he had the stored and that he still had them all. Everything was good and they signed off on his second request for more guns.

Oh no, we need the ATF, what we don't need is no one checking because we live in a world filled with people who have no business having guns. As they are terrorist, they are crazy or they are simply a ticking time bomb. I'm good with deep background checks and anyone with a nice clean record should be ok with it too. It's been my experience the only ones who don't like it are the ones who have silly things like felonies and other stuff that might prevent the gun sale.

@TheAceOfSpades Hmmm? Where was yours. this happened in outside Marietta, GA. I have to admit if I came into a large sum of money I might be doing the same thing. I do enjoy my guns. The guy in question did something most of us can only dream of, he built himself a new home and instead of worrying with gun safes like us regular guys have, he built a massive gun vault. like 20' x 40' inside. 4'_0" thick walls heavily rebarred 5'-0 floor and ceiling thing was built like a Federal Reserve vault and poured with 12, 000 PSI concrete. Wasn't anyone gonna just unbolt the thing from the floor and wheel it off to open at their leisure. I remember when I saw it I was pretty sure anything short of a tank was gonna have a tough time getting in it. Not that it was impossible, but it was gonna take a lot of time and effort.

It can not though speed it up. it could only be slowed down if the projectile is being affected by any internal turbulence prior to exiting. This internal turbulence can arise from a poorly designed suppressor or one which is not matched to the ballistics of the weapon of choice and I would go as far as suggesting the load as well of course.

Great video, I would point out though that the .22 calibre can be made silent with a moderator/silencer. Also some moderators/silencers are not symmetrical in their internal designs when dispersing the gasses, so logically can change the point of impact with and without the moderator attached.

Many old ones were simply constructed upon the orifice plate principle and they actually work very well. It's now so much marketing and hype. The real test that people should be talking about is what it is supposed to do and that is reduce the SPL to some level which is bearable by the shooter, otherwise it's rather pointless and possibly expensive too. Once above 90db unsuppressed, this is loud near ones ear if unprotected. 85db reduced by a say 10db would be a good reduction for say a small calibre such as a 0.22.

I have a suppressor on a bolt action 0.22RF and, when loaded with subsonic ammunition, there is no noise from the escape of gas. The noise of the firing pin hitting the cartridge is all one can hear, and is similar to it hitting a spent case. The noise of the bullet hitting the target is the loudest noise you hear. Supersonic ammo produces a loud snap, which is peculiarly non-directional.

Never could understand the paranoia about suppressors in the USA. They have been freely available without regulation here in New Zealand for over 60 years to my certain knowledge. One can buy a suppressor without having a firearms license here for that matter. Most hunters use them now so that ear protection is not necessary.

I always find that funny that countries with stricter gun laws than the US have more liberal supressor laws. I mean i get that once you pass all the scrutiny to get a gun that most people are gonna say that you are probably good to go for a supressor. And most of them just look at it as etiquette because a gun is loud and its good manners to turn it down a little so as not to disturb your neighbors. I guess here in america we havent figured out that the average person can shoot a gun much faster than the average person can react to being shot at so being able to hear the shots give you no advantage in being able 'dodge' those bullets. Silly Americans.
@KathrynLiz1
@KathrynLiz1 6 жыл бұрын
I see that the lobbyists for suppressor freedom in the USA have stressed the health angle...which is a good approach. Wearing ear muffs in the hunting field is a bad idea, but the muzzle blast of that old '06 is not funny at all. An over-barrel suppressor turns the 'bang' into 'pop' and the noisiest bit is the crack of the departing projectile. Oh by the way, moderators are totally forbidden in Australia apparently, but then a lot of nice things that go bang are forbidden there too... So far in NZ we can own ARs etc...... in fact three of my own rifles are illegal to possess in Californistan.... :-)

Is the company "Sionics" still in operation? I remember, MANY years ago, I read an article in one of the gun magazines I was subscribed to, about field testing a Steyr SSG. 308 rifle equipped with a Sionics suppressor. This was well before there was an internet, so.. the article, "said", that basically, the only real discernable sounds that could be heard, was the trigger mechanism releasing the firing pin, the firing pin striking the primer, and then the rifle slug striking the steel target down-range. At that time, I believe Sionics was contracted to manufacture supressors for military applications.

I thought that there are 3 sounds from a gun. The slide, which a suppressor doesn't affect the sound, the bullet breaking the sound barrier which the suppressor wouldn't affect since this happens after the bullet leaves the gun & the explosion the launches the bullet from the casing which the suppressor does suppress. Wouldn't using sub sonic bullets help reduce the last two talking points???

Yep and you can buy subsonic ammo all day. Also special weapons that are semi auto have a breach lock so no slide slap. Good for 1 rnd at a time but as quiet as your gonna get.

The term "silencer" should be banned. And suppressor fully replacing it. So many non gun people believe that "silencers" actually silence the gun shot. I have to unconfuse them all the time. I explain that without a "silencer" a single gun shot makes your ears ring. With a "silencer" it's still very loud but at least you can participate in a conversation after your hunting trip.

You need to look back in history. Sir Hiram Maxim (inventor of the Maxim machine gun) came up with the silencer around WWI. In his original patents for the firearm and internal combustion engine silencer, he used the term Silencer and not suppressor. So either term is correct. This is not like clip and magazine.

There is a type of suppressor that uses a rubber wiper that will only last a few shots. This was used by the welrod pistol. The suppressor will only last a few shots. And twenty shots will wear it quite a lot.
@bctpcp9546
@bctpcp9546 2 жыл бұрын
Dependent upon the construction and it's resistance to very hot and potentially corrosive gases, the amount of use, will determine how long they will last. I believe once the internals are corroded to the point of where internal turbulence and flow patterns are changed in such a ways as to be disadvantageous to the projectile's trajectory. One will only know this from anchored down, (bench) and loss of accuracy. The ones he talks about here, if Ti, will have a very good corrosion resistance. I think the key point which he doesn't say is the reduction in db, Vs unmoderated, Vs the actual person's tolerance to the SPL. For example a 10db reduction in sound from a small calibre 0.22 can make a big difference but anything under 10db, I'd say if the person has good hearing would be a waste of time using it. I'm talking too about proper sound measurements with the transducer facing the muzzle and say 20cm from the closest ear.

I'm unsure about the claim of a climb on velocity through a suppressor as the suppressor dissipates the gasses that push the projectile.
@whiplash636

It's a proven fact, not a claim. The increase in velocity is very slight, but it _is_ an increase. I didn't believe it either until I saw it myself.
@metamorphicorder
@metamorphicorder 6 жыл бұрын
The reason this is not widely known is because suppressors used to work differently and they actually used to reduce velocity. Once wipes or other contact surfaces were designed out, this stopped happening and an increase could be seen.

@joshtheking1772
@joshtheking1772 5 жыл бұрын
No, I dont agree one single bit with you. Most are very affordable. The cost associated with most weapons on the market is almost on par across the board. This helps weed out inferior or unsafe models and keeps them off the market. Owning, carrying, and utilizing a firearm requires a measure of safety that needs to be managed correctly. These are not toys. Without safety you are not just putting yourself at risk but others around you. As far as training goes. If you aren't willing to pay to learn how to use your weapon correctly and safety, well, you probably should own one then. That is just as simple as the nose on your face. If you disagree then I dont want to be in any close proximity to you or have my family around you. You would be more dangerous then the firearm itself.

That has to do with the point of impact shift due to there being more weight on the barrel. Suppressors cause more back pressure, hence more velocity.

The whole point is to disburse and shear the gases specifically to reduce noise, this in itself if working at optimum performance for this specific task does not add anything to velocity.

suppressors do not make gunshots hearing safe... 85DB+ causes hearing damage but for some reason people think making their gun go from 160DB to 139DB means its hearing safe.... pretty much the only way you're getting sub 85DB shots is with a bolt action .22lr shooting subsonic rounds. slapping a suppressor on an AR15, AK47/74, AR10 etc does not mean its hearing safe when you're firing supersonic rounds. suppressors dont change physics, that supersonic crack from the bullet will still be like 140DB+. suppressors help for sure, even if using supersonic rounds but its definitely nowhere near hearing safe.
@greatguy4076
@greatguy4076 5 жыл бұрын
You are misinformed - and no authority said that it makes gunshots "hearing safe." Hearing damage results from a combination of intensity and exposure. 85 dB is the maximum recommended "safe" level for an 8 hour continuous exposure. In a 24 hour period, it is generally accepted that a cumulative 10 seconds exposure to levels of 120 dB is safe; 1 second for 127 dB; and less than a second for 130+ dB (not over 140 dB). It may surprise you that a single clap (like clapping your hands at a concert) is around 130 dB. Did you go deaf the last time you clapped? The reality is that firing a subsonic round or a smaller caliber outdoors, for which the duration of the sound is about 3 -5 milliseconds, is considered safe for a reasonable number of rounds. Regarding the "crack," you will not hear it. It comes from the bow wave produced by the projectile, which is conical and never intersects the shooter. Remember that good suppressors provide upwards of 30 dB of reduction at the shooter's position, which is on par with good ear protection. A suppressor is a great addition that can provide many advantages, for example it allows wearing lighter ear protection; it will cause *less* hearing damage if you have to use a firearm without hearing protection (self-defense); it reduces recoil; and for large calibers like the .338 Lapua, it makes shooting much more enjoyable.
