We bought and sold back a campervan with Happy Campers in 2017! We spent 7 months exploring and it was an amazing experience. Harro and the rest of the Happy Campers team are awesome. It's definitely the most economical way to see Europe, plus all the hidden gems you can find driving around!

In the future I plan to ship a small Class C over to Europe and store it for 3-4 winter months and then return to the USA during those months.And doing that for several years to see all that I’d like to. But I gotta say watching you guys travel to countries I hadn’t considered makes me think I need to add a few more years onto that number!

That sounds great. You will love it. The thing is that you don't have to do it all. We certainly didn't. There were so many countries that we wanted to stay longer and explore more. Just another reason to go back.

I finally watched your two Monaco videos, and I loved them !! There actually are a couple of ways to bring an RV here, although they are pretty fiddly, but who cares -- your festival at the Loew's Hotel (AKA the "Fairmont") and surroundings clearly was exactly what you needed, enjoyed, and profited from !! If you ever aim for a third time in Monaco -- look towards the Old Beach Hotel. It's actually in France, which means that the Hotel should be able to sort some sort of RV stuff that the exiguity and laws of Monaco would simply forbid. As guests there, even paying RV ones, you should normally be able to park Lemonade there without problems -- and there are day passes to the Hotel area, which has its own beach, cool restaurant space, and the most amazing seawater quasi-Olympic swimming pool you might ever come across -- FAR better than the Loew's roof pool !! RV-wise, you'd definitely need to negociate some business with the hotel, you couldn't just turn up without knowing the more intricate backway paths and so on. Though I guess Europe is ending for you guys ... (sad !!!)

This is awesome to know about! Thank you for this video. I'm saving their website in my "Europe Travel" folder. It will be a few years before we are ready to think about Europe since we are starting out in Central and South America, but I've been wondering if we will RV Europe or stay in rentals. I think it will depend on the kids...cuz MY biggest concern is that my husband needs an office to focus on work. He would not be able to work with the kids in an RV. And my kids do not care that Dad is working. It's hard enough keeping them away from him in the house.
@WorldTowning

I know the feeling, We mix things up. There are days that we all have to work/school in the RV. If we are in a campsite, we can spread out to the coffee shop and then get some isolation. There are challenges, but there are ways around it. Ultimately, it's so worth it as the kids will have an incredible experience with you guys. Ultimately, we would rather have it this way, with all of the pain and suffering of trying to get work done, as opposed to having our kids relying on other kids for advice and guidance. We like a balance. We also like the face that they cam come to us for anything at any part of the day. I know other parents who have lost that relationship with their kids because of career and it's heartbreaking. Everyone must choose their own path, but I can tell you whole heartedly, the one we have chosen is amazing, struggles and all.... If you have the opportunity to take your family show on the road, I highly recommend it.

Thanks so much. When we were traveling around in Europe, we were using a SIM card from Orange.fr. We chose Orange as we were already residing in France for a year before we bought the motorhome. When looking for a provider, check to see how much of your data you can use when outside of the home country (in other EU countries and UK). That will make a huge difference. Good luck and have fun.

We want to retire to France when they will let's Americans back in. Would it be practical to rent an RV for a month or so while we're house shopping? We're on a budget and still trying to figure out taxes and health insurance. I've really enjoyed watching your adventures. I just watched the We Bought a Boat! Happy travels 😊
@WorldTowning
@WorldTowning 4 жыл бұрын
I think that would be a great way to explore France and discover an area you want to live in. Not sure how affordable short term rentals are as we have never done that. But, probably some good deals once Covid is over. Take 3 months in spring or fall, DON'T do summer. All the French take vacations then, it is crowded and overpriced. Good luck. YOu can do it.

That is very interesting business, indeed. However, I don´t really understand the "For Americans, Canadians and Australians" bit. I am European, but I could be equally interested in buying from them, simply because the buyback option they offer. As such, and unless they charge so much money it makes no sense to resell the vehicle to them, I don´t see why it couldn´t be an equally interesting service for Europeans who don´t want to deal with the hassle of selling the vehicle to a third party. Cheers, guys.
@WorldTowning
@WorldTowning 5 жыл бұрын
I agree that is a great aspect if the arrangement, I would imagine, although, that if you bought the motorhome from a dealer (as a European) in Europe, that dealer would be interested in buying back the vehicle in order to maintain the relationship with you. Just a thought.
@1650million
@1650million 5 жыл бұрын
@@WorldTowning That´s why I mentioned it, because that´s not my experience, at all. Businesses are interested in selling, not in buying back, since they have no way to know how you will be treating the RV for an extended period of time, and thousands of km later. Unless they offer you peanuts as buyback option, which could be the reason they offer it to begin with... ;)
@HARROINEUROPE
@HARROINEUROPE 4 жыл бұрын
@@1650million Hey there, it could be interesting for Europeans as well but a big part of the costs of the buyback are based on tacking the Registration and insurance problem and then the problem of being foreign and on the other side of the world after that, it saves the hassle of trying to sell the vehicle. As a European you could do it through us but as an honest man, i wouldn't see why. You can purchase a vehicle form your own country so you don't have to pay for registration and insurance at another place, insurance costs for companies are lot more than if you would insure it as a person. also when you sell it you have all the time to get the right price for it and waiting for the right season as you don't have somewhere else to go. We had Europeans in the past and they loved it but in all times the Buyback is meant to be a better and cheaper option than renting a vehicle :)
@cees1910
@cees1910 5 жыл бұрын
I find it stupid because the vehicle is still on the sellers name , you can have thousends of contract the owner of the vehicle is still on who name is the vehicle Much easier is to ship your own usa camper to europe ,cheaper too since you have no extra cost I know i drive my own usa camper in europe You also van have a registration on your name as a American , so you can have dutch license plates
@WorldTowning
@WorldTowning 5 жыл бұрын
In the case of the purchase, the vehicle is in your name. It's not a rental. Yes, it might be easier to ship your RV from the US, but this is simply another option. Plus, larger US RV's don't do very well in Europe. Small roads are a challenge.

OK - After a little digging (which took me 30 seconds). You are correct, the RV's are in the name of the seller. If it was in the name of the purchaser, the RV could not be registered or insured, that's the whole point of the program. At the end of the term (which you decide) you can either keep going as is, have it transferred to your name if you want or you can either have them buy it back or you can sell it outright. There is an element of trust and understanding, that is true. We know individuals who have used them, and there is nothing but high praise for the experience.

I am always perplexed by a comment that takes such a negative approach. I don't get mad, but confused. Maybe try to look at this through a different lenses. This was a very exciting moment for us. We want to help our community travel in areas that they think is impossible. I get excited, I talk loud and ask a lot of questions and yes, sometimes I interrupt. I make no apologies for loving life with enthusiasm. It all comes from a good place. I encourage my children and others to use their voice, get excited about life and ask those questions as well. I can't see how this is such an awful thing that needs a comment like this. As for contrived, this is hilarious. We have been traveling in our RV for 2.5 years, nothing we do is contrived, it is just not possible with this lifestyle choice.
