so to sum up the video: calculate: time to longitude conversion ________________________________________ step 1) identify in question where west longitude, meridian and east longitude are compared to each other. step 2) find the time difference = if west time is given substract the west time with the east time ( ensure all are in the standerd 24hr time not 12hr one) / if east time is given add the east time with west time. step 3) conversion from hour to min = turn the found number in hr and min to only min. step 4) as 4 min= 1 longitude, calculate the value of found min into longitude (ans) calculate: longitude to time conversion ________________________________________ step 1) step one of the previous method. step 2) find the time difference = if west longitude is given add the west and east longitude/ if east longitude is given substract. step 3) multiply previously found value with 4 step 4) convert min into hour step 5) if, the question demands the local time of the specified place then add( if the asked place is east) and substract ( if the asked place is west) the found time in step 4. thankyou for the video, it ensured me 10 marks in my gs exam and this is a little short summery for people with further confusion. beware: I am also a class 10 examiner so i dont know more than i've been taught if i made any mistakes, inform me. good day.

To find the local time in West Africa (at 20°W longitude) when a program was broadcast from Mumbai at 7:30 p.m., we need to calculate the time difference between Mumbai and West Africa. 1. Mumbai (72.8°E) to Prime Meridian (0°): Mumbai is ahead of the Prime Meridian, so we need to subtract the corresponding time difference. Since every 15 degrees of longitude corresponds to a time difference of 1 hour, Mumbai is approximately 4 hours and 51 minutes ahead of the Prime Meridian. 2. Prime Meridian (0°) to West Africa (20°W): West Africa is behind the Prime Meridian, so we need to add the corresponding time difference. Since every 15 degrees of longitude corresponds to a time difference of 1 hour, West Africa is 20°W, which is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes behind the Prime Meridian. Now, we add the time difference between Mumbai and the Prime Meridian to the time difference between the Prime Meridian and West Africa: 4 hours and 51 minutes (Mumbai ahead of Prime Meridian) + 1 hour and 20 minutes (West Africa behind Prime Meridian) = 6 hours and 11 minutes. 12:49 Sir, the in the first question, The time difference is 138.75 degree and not the longitude of the place. So, after subtracting, 138.75 - 88(From Chicago's longitude to Prime Meridian) = 50.75 degree. Therefore, the longitude of the place shall be: 50.75 degree East. i.e. 50°45' (Thanks @VampyboiFTW ) Is the answer right sir?

i have a doubt in a question sir 1. An important programme was to be held from mumbai at 7.30p.m. This was heard by some indian sailors near Ivory Coast in West Africa at 20degree West longitude . What was the local time there?

Habibi just Google it! The local time at Mumbai is 7:30 pm. The location of Mumbai is 82 1/2° E of Prime Meridian. The GMT would be 9:20 a.m. [7:30 hrs - (82 1/2°x 4 min) = 7:30 hrs - 5:30 hrs = 2:00 pm. Ivory Coast is located at 20° W of Prime Meridian. At any point of time, Ivory Coast will be 20 X 4 = 80 min = 1:20 hrs behind GMT. So, when it is 2:00 pm at GMT, the local time at Ivory Coast will be 2:00 - 1:20 = 12:40 pm.
