We were given a pile of pie apples and I decided to can our apples without using sugar.
Adding sugar to fruit for canning adds to the flavor and the texture of the fruit, but does not actually affect how long it will last for! Here is how I can fruit without sugar and without a pressure canner.
Grab the peeler corer here: amzn.to/3xK73BX
Water bath apples for 30 minutes or pressure can them for 8 minutes

I just bought a bag of apples to attempt this. I need sugar free recipes for fruit. I’m Just thankful the sugar has nothing to do with the actual health preservation of the food.

WOW. The processed apples kept their shape. Thank you. Your video is so helpful including Pros and Cons of methods. You mentioned how delicious they are in Apple crisp with a Crumbly topping. Yum Chunky apple sauce is what I was searching for. This recipe sounds perfect. From USA

Thank you! Just what I was looking for last year, but maybe it wasn’t there yet ;) I just started to prepare the apples this year. I love how you are perfectly fine and calm with the kids around while filming. It also taught me a great lesson. Thank you❣️

I found with my apple corer slicer, I attached it to a glass cutting board or you can use a cookie sheet. Works great.

Hi. Enjoyed the video! I stick my corer/slicer to a raised-edge cookie sheet. Not only does it contain the mess, but I can reposition the machine at will by turning the sheet. It works great and makes cleanup a lot of breeze. I work seated on a counter top that's the same size as my cookie sheet and hold it in place with my body against it. You could also clamp the sheet down, or I suppose, just put a towel under it.

Video says you're using the pressure canner, since you're not using the lid for it, what kind of lid are you using? Great video, thanks!

Greetings from Ontario, Canada. I'm confused about something (nothing new). You indicated to process them in the canning post for 30 minutes if you are using 1 litre jars. Would that not cook the apples? I thought the idea was that they cooked in the pie. New to this canning thing and bit intimidated!!!

Hi there, yes it is a bit confusing - all canned food needs to be well cooked to kill all the germs that will make it spoil.
