Wow, what a woman you are, even when I'll, and you keep going! I admire your strength and determination, Kim! When the snow is flying, you'll be sitting pretty, eating your grapes!😀👍🍇

What do you do with your grapes when you open your jar? How do you use them? They look great.
@LifePrepared2 жыл бұрын
I will eat some as is. They are like grapes in fruit cocktail. I will also make chicken salad. I will probably find other uses too when the time comes.

Awesome my guess was right. I'm gonna try this once the grapes go on sale around here. Hopefully they will still go on sale this year.

Great idea! Never thought of doing grapes. I do lids and rings in water as well! We did ketchup from my older tomato juice and more beef broth this weekend. Take care of you!

I am picky about ketchup. I like the Hunts brand. How does yours taste?

I can tell you are a nurse, yes I know you are retired but once a nurse always a nurse. You had to push yourself to take care of others even when you felt you couldn’t take care of yourself. My daughter is a nurse too. I was a volunteer paramedic for years n years so I know how much a nurse sacrifices. I am in awe of canning grapes. Once you are feeling better please tell what you do with them, like can you just eat them like you could b4 the canning? I’m the old time canner myself. Lol

I eat them from the jar or use in things like chicken salad. I have a lot of apple trees and a pear but like some variety for the winter when good fruit is hard to find in my area.

Looks awesome, I thought you might have been canning Cherries when you gave us the sneak peak. Our first year here on our property I made grape jelly from the grapes on our vines....still eating grape jelly, lol.

I was hoping to do cherries but the birds got most of them.

I've never thought about canning grapes. I just had a huge amount of grapes given to us and I froze them because we couldn't begin to eat them all. Next time I'll try canning grapes. TY for an interesting idea.

Do you use hot jars? Thank you :)
@LifePrepared Жыл бұрын
If hot packing, I use hot jars. If the food goes in cold, I use room temperature water. And hot pack jars go in the canner with hot water. Cold in cold (room temperature). HTH ❤️

is it safe to can seeded grapes? if so, will it change the flavor?
@LifePrepared3 ай бұрын
I have never tried it so I really don't know, sorry

Do you just eat them out of the jar that way? Or do you put them in fruit salads or make jelly? How do you eat them later is what I'm asking hehe. I made some apple scrap jelly last night from a bunch of bruised apples I got really cheap. I cut up and froze the good parts.

How much sugar
@LifePrepared Жыл бұрын
I don't add much. Maybe a couple tablespoons because these were already sweet and I try to avoid adding sugar when able.
@AdamBCarpenter Жыл бұрын
I prefer using Demerara sugar for red grapes. The color looks more appealing.
@LifePrepared Жыл бұрын
I haven't heard of that sugar before. Thanks for the tip!
