The incubate period is still 21 days. I usually candle about 15 days. Throw out any eggs that aren't fertilized. Let the momma hen do the rest. Keep a close eye on her and then move her and the chicks to their own tractor or private area. I like to be involved in the whole process so the baby chicks will grow up and recognize me. Also look out for other hens that might lay their eggs in with your broody hen's clutch of eggs. Take those out and just keep the ones you want. I marked mine so I could take out the fresh laid eggs everyday. If I didn't do this, she would be laying on more than 40 eggs. The other hens would lay right next to her and there eggs, then hop off. No other hens have been broody except for Vulture, the black chicken in the video.
